What`s happened to swap meets???
I went to a swap meet Sunday,a 2 hour drive, and it sucked. This was a 2 day indoor auto swap with about 200 spaces but it seemed like half the vendors were selling either cheap quality tools or collectibles. There were hadly any used parts vendors and not one selling Mopar stuff! This is a swap I have been going to for a bunch of years but it is no longer worth going to.I can buy cheap tools(not) at the local discount/dollar store and buy toys at Walmart cheaper. There were a few resto delaers there, sheet metal, trim etc. and speed houses but where are all the used parts vendors hiding? Is it me or you guys see the same trend?OK,I`m done venting.

I know what you mean, dude! I went to the Pittsburgh Parts a Rama last year...drove 2+ hrs just so I could find any t-shirt, tire, (cheap) tool, or toy I wanted. Do you think I found any of the parts I needed? Nope. I'm going to Carlilse this year, it will be my first time...I hope I don't get dissappointed.
Re: What`s happened to swap meets???
Carlisle is much better than these local swaps,I plan on being there this year. The big events always have plenty of parts but sometimes have big prices to go along with it.I have to wait until April for the next decent swap in this area at Stafford Springs in Conneticut,I have found some good used Mopar stuff there.

Re: What`s happened to swap meets???
I definitely see the same thing here in the South! I've been to two "Autofests" at the Charlotte Speedway (2 hrs drive) and not one Mope vender. One time a guy had a 70 RR that was trashed inside, wrinkled body, brushed on black primer over a lime green exterior, say " Ready for Paint"!!! That was about it. Our local Mopar club has a "Fun Run" every spring at a local dragstrip. We get 50 vendors and individuals there with strickly Mopar related goodies. Once and a while you see old NASCAR Hemi stuff! We are just below the Virginia border, try to make it, it's worth the trip.
swap meets
I am 100% in agreement with most here, local swap meets suck! All I see are model cars, magazines, shirts, and related crap like that. Real parts are few and far between. If you are truly out to find a used or nos mopar part, they aren't worth your time. I live in Metro Detroit. The best part of the swap meets I have been to, has been the breakfast before I get to the meet. No more waking up at 6:30 am on Sunday to check out the latest in the Johnny Lightning series.
Re: swap meets
You have to go to Carlistle at least one time,it is well worth it,I went in 2001 and I am going to be there again. To bad you guys dont live closer,it is well worth it.Locally there isnt much by me either.
swap meets
I have heard Carlisle is great, I'v never heard anything negative about it. In fact, some told me its better then the Nationals. I hope I can arrange a trip there one year.

Re: swap meets
Whew, nice timing on this subject as I just finished 8 blistering hours of "walking" around the NorthWest's largest
swap meet in Portland, Oregon. And in the 8 hours we did
manage to miss a couple of area's if ya can believe that !!
Out of all of the five thou plus vendors, just 4 that had any
Mopar stuff. Was a 68' RR as a "work in progress" for 14
grand, couple of SuperBee's for sale and that was about it.
But your all right, just alot of "junk" for sale, would like to
check out Carlisle sometime in the future.
Re: swap meets
I will probably be going to Stafford Springs Conn. for a swap meet this Sunday. It is one of the few good swaps around with real used parts and cars for sale.
