Re: Whither T/7?
Aren't practically all fanfics really AU? Okay, I'm nitpicking but I can't decide between uber/AU and subtext.
Never have cared much for PWP and although I get brief periods of overdosing on T/7, I know it'll be a long while before I'm truly finished with the pairing.
I shall have to dither and answer this one at a later date.
Re: Whither T/7?
I agree that in some sense all fanfic is AU but I suppose what I mean by it is the sort of scenario in which the universe differs from the very start of the series rather than breaking off at some point within a canon series.
For example I'm writing a T/7 where there is no Federation (as we know it Jim) and Earth became part of the Klingon Empire probably some time round about the period in which Enterprise is set. (Don't ask me why I'm doing this, the basic idea was completely different and it just kind of happened.)
I just thought that kind of AU is closer to uber than subtext.

Spoken (in a manner of writing) too soon Bones - now someone has said they're bored ...
Personally speaking I hope not to get bored with it either but it does worry me that less fic is being written at the moment and much of what is written falls into the spoof category.
