Welcome to the... Message Board for Plymouth Roadunner Owners & Enthusiasts (including Superbirds and GTX) Fellow B-Body Satellite and Charger and F-Body owners also welcome
I am looking to buy a 69 Road Runner. The owner says it has the original build sheet with it. First, I assume that this is the window sticker -- please correct me if I'm wrong. Second, the sheet says it is a Belvadere. Does this mean that the car is a clone or is that the way they were listed on the sheet? It has a numbers-matching 383 engine if that helps any.
the buildsheet is the actual option list that was sent down the assembly line as the car was being built.
the first 4 numbers/letters on the vin should be RM21 or 23 depending on post or hardtop for a roadrunner, RH2x for satellites, RS2x for gtx's....not sure about belvedere's. and i believe the 5th number will be an "H" for a 383 but maybe shaker can correct me if i'm wrong.
if something doesn't seem right, it probably isn't....are you buying this off ebay??? there was a guy on there trying to sell a nice looking satellite as a roadrunner
Thanks for the quick response. I saw the car on AutoTrader.com. The guy seems honest and genuine -- he's listed repairs and flaws he didn't have to and even sent pictures highlighting where body work was done. But he doesn't have a complete history on the car, so it could be a belvedere and he really doesn't know it.
But the fact that the numbers match makes me think it would be a road runner -- how many Belvederes could have built with a 383 in them? But anything's possible out there in the wild world of commerce. I'll get the vin and check it out.
