a favor, por favor...
I wasn't really sure where to put this, so I'll just leave it here unless someone else moves it...
I'm taking a "virgin" with me to the Mayer show next month and I really want her to hear some of the songs he's only played live and/or that haven't been released on regular albums.
You know, like "Hummingbird" and "Tracing" and all the others that are floating out there.
I've got most of the really early stuff like "Tell Me What to Say" and "Breakaway", so I don't need that.
I'm mainly looking for stuff that was done during or after the release of 'Room for Squares'.
If anybody could burn them to a CD for me and send it my way, I'd be very appreciative. I'd even be willing to send a few bucks your way for your trouble.
Waaait a second. Wasn't I supposed to do this and send it to you? I'm a moron. I should have put it in your package! Blah! I will put something together tomorrow and send it to you.

Haha, Heather...
Shel, I have all of the songs that were up on Orangesodastudios saved conveniently. Do you want them on a CD ready for a cd player, or a folder (that holds more tunes), or on a DVD and I'll toss some other random JM stuff on it, too?
I think I still have your address (it's probably at work), so I'll try to put something in the mail for ya to satiate your wait.
Re: a favor, por favor...
Any chance I could get a copy, too?

Re: a favor, por favor...
Ok, so I haven't burnt anything yet... not because I'm slacking, but because I've got 10+ hours of the "random" stuff to pull from. It's sick, really. Actually, the 10+ hours is nothing compared to the fact that if I let my iTunes run without interuptions from start to finish, it would still be playing in January 2009... (Geez, I wonder how bad it'll be after I get the other 300 albums on my external hard drive-- I don't want to take my CDs with me to NYC.)
Couple of questions:
Since this is for a friend, I'm assuming you care about the quality of the track, right? I mean, I've got 3 different Tracings... do you want it live or do you want the version on the AOL sessions or do you want it from the BTMB single. And I've got 4 different Suckers... actually, I probably have more but they're not on my itunes (seriously, this has made me realize how much I need to clean out my itunes).
Do you want the covers? I mean, I love listening to Old Love, but if you just want his stuff, I won't include it.
And do you want the recent randoms? For example bits from the December Blues shows in NYC, tracks from the early Trio shows (Heart so Heavy, Mr. Pitiful). Another Kind of Green acoustic...
Do you want the fun banter pieces? I guess this kind of goes with covers... How about the jokes-- George's Blues (I have a nice studio recording of it) or the Unicorn song?
How about colabs with Glen Phillips, Buddy Guy, Herbie Hancock, etc...
Do you want any great recordings of the tracks that CAN be found on the CDs? I'm pretty in love with the Stripped version of Clarity.
___________________________________ Or do you want me to just pretend that I'm making a "intro to Mayer 101" CD for one of my friends, not worrying about what you already have or don't have?
And Laurel, do you want the exact same thing that I'll send to Michelle? Or do you want me to throw a bunch of junk on a DVD?
Re: a favor, por favor...
Well, first of all I don't want to be a hassle at all. I'll take what's easiest .... or just throw everything on a dvd. Dvds work great and let me know what I can do in return....

Oh Laurel, it's not a hastle at all. I just want to make sure you both get what you have in mind, you know? It seems silly to send CDs of something you already have. I think in your case, the DVD might be easiest option, because I'm assuming that you're probably like several other people that I know who thought OSS would just be around so didn't bother to download all the junk. I just happened to decide to be an "uber fan" a month before it shut down. I also think I have some stuff repeated, so I'll try to get rid of the dups.
Again, it's no hastle. I've been meaning to get this stuf in some sort of order for a while now. It's a great insentive!
You're right. I lost a bunch of his early stuff due to a HD crash last year and never took what I wanted from OSS. So I'll take anything ya got! And seriously, let me know what I can do to reciprocate.
Re: re:
Tallyn, for me, I just want the unreleased stuff he's only played live and/or hasn't been on the U.S. versions of albums.
For instance, I don't need CIR or "Message in a Bottle" because they're on AGT and she's heard them.
Basically, she's a fan, but I want to share the less-well-known stuff with her.
And better sound quality would be great, but I know there are some things floating around out there that only have poor to fair sound quality.
As for the very early stuff, I can tell you right now that I have Sucker, Why Did you Mess with forever, Man on the Side, Outside in the Underground.
For other stuff, I leave it for you to decide what the best version would be to put on a CD.
You don't have to include the jokes/banter because I've already got a little bit of that.
Was that any help?
~ Michelle M.
P.S. I thank you from the bottom of my heart for doing this, Tallyn, I really do.
Re: re:
Shelly, I really wish I could have helped you out with this. Almost all of my JM stuff is on my old PC that busted last year. My laptop has mostly new stuff and stuff I have found in the last year randomly. I really need to take the PC to the geeks and have them burn my data onto DVD's for me. I miss my music!!
Re: re:
Hi,
I'm having severe computer problems... I'm probably going to loose everything. I've transferred the majority of my files over to my external hard drive, so hopefully they'll be safe. I'm going to try to reformat my C:, so no promises on when I'll be able to get this to y'all.
I'm so sorry! I've been having problems for the past month and it seems like everything that I've done thus far to fix it just has made it worse-- haven't been able to access my itunes since the 4th!
Anywho, I'll let you know when I get everything straightened out and in the mail.
Re: ssdlknpiosd
Tallyn, no worries.
I've waited this long, a little longer isn't going to kill me.
I really appreciate you going to all the trouble, though.

Shel, I've got your stuff done and I'll put it in the mail tomorrow before I leave.
Laurel, I'm not sure why, but I'm having issues with burning DVDs at the moment. When I get back I'll download a DVD burning software/gizmo/thingamabob and try again.

Ok, Shel yours should be arriving in the mail any day now and Laurel I still need to figure out why my DVD burner is acting up. I do have a laptop now, so I might just plug my external into it and burn the DVD on it.
And Jader, how shall I address it? And what do you want? The same stuff? I guess I should give myself a kick in the pants and take care of this before I forget... again...
