Speculation and Spoilers on The Departure
Here are a few hints and a few clues about what will happen in the season finale.
These spoilers have been floating around cyberspace and mostly are from what I've read on the FF spoiler board.
Tess thinks she's pregnant. This will seem like the case and this is how the writers will set it up, but in reality she isn't. They decipher the alien book, I believe it was in some kind of code that Alex was able to figure out. And somehow he left clues for Liz, and she is able to figure it out too. Max feels responsible for Tess, but he doesn't love her the way he loves Liz. Max is being mind warped. By whom we don't really know. It could be Kivar, that's my guess since he hasn't really made his appearance the entire season, and this would be a good time for him to appear. Liz also finds the crystal that can activate the granilith and thus take the pod squad home.
There is an explosion at the granilith and Bob the jeep goes off a cliff.
Right now the above are just pieces of a puzzle and I'm not quite sure how they all fit. I think the new episodes will provide further clues, at least that's my hope.
There are lots of questions that I have. The title of the episode is The Departure. So who departs? Is it Tess, the entire pod squad? If Max is being mind warped, who's doing it and why? Is someone trying to set a trap? Why have a pregnancy scare? And why have an alien baby? Anyway, like I said I have tons more questions then answers!

Hey Marice!
Isn't it fun to try to figure out what's going to happen in the last 6 eppys?! LOL! To refer to your question on if it's the whole pod squad "departing" for Antar, I would say that it's highly doubtful. I keep remembering who was it that said, Katims or Moore, that it'll be a totally different show if they all of a sudden put the royal 4 in a spaceship and take them to outer space. Not unless the network lost a few brain cells, I think they would also agree to that statement.
What I am hearing these days, mostly from Vicki , is that Ava will come back in the picture. And that she was there all along and we never knew it. Of course, they couldn't just leave us hanging from the end of MITC. That would be a major plot hole. I know, I know, what else is new, but wouldn't you agree that most of them were pretty minor? Plus, it would also make a lot more sense b/c I don't buy the concept of TESS continuing to deceive Max into thinking she was pregnant just so that she could go home to Antar. Not after what she's gone through to make us believe that she feel's at home in Roswell.
In the promo where Isabel tell's Max that she's leaving Roswell, I'm assuming it has something to do with her going to college in a different state. See, I don't get that. First of all, why she and NOT Liz that gets to graduate early? But then again, a little bit of alien powers could take care of grades and whatnot. But most importantly, if Isabel is still the same Isabel from the 1st season, there is NO WAY she would leave Max and Michael behind like that. Her care-giving ways becomes evident in Monsters when Toposlky says that from her computer profile she's "someone who puts family first, craves stability and security, and leans towards care giving fields." With the more dangerous things they had to experience this season, I would think she'd be more protective now than be self-indulgent. I'm just dwelling on speculations so I could be wrong.
Another thing I've been reading is that Shawn black-males Liz into going out with him?! Not unless they completely changed the Shawn & Liz plot in HOM from the time I read the script, I don't get that either. If this is true, I'm guessing they needed Shawn to be a more threat to the gang than just another "obstacle" Max & Liz have to go through.
All this speculating is making me anxious that Monday can't come sooner! Sorry I could only discuss one of your questions, Marice! Maybe someone wants to take a crack at the others. But that doesn't mean I won't be back! Muahahaha! Oh dangmabit, I'm so bad! I've tried and tried to be strong but I'M SO WEAK!!

I think 'Departure' refers to the Pod Squad -- they have the info they need to get home, Max and Tess ARE going home, etc. Michael and Isabel need to make the decision if they want to go home, too.
Here's what I have on the finale:

They’ve decoded the alien book. It tells them how to get back to the home planet, and they think it also confirms that Tess is pregnant. Max thinks he has to take Tess back to the planet, since the baby can’t survive on earth. He’s very torn and doesn’t want to go. Michael isn’t happy about this either. He is torn between going home and staying with Maria.
Max tells Liz that he is going home. He tells her why, too, which means she now knows about the sex and baby. They pull up to the Crashdown in the jeep and sit there for a while. Max gives Liz a box, something to remember him by. It’s the alien pendant from season one, but it’s whole, not broken. The pendant has special meaning … Liz says she can’t accept it. Max confronts her about the Kyle/sex thin, and she finally breaks down and tells him the whole story. Max leans over and they kiss. The kiss is full of flashes from the beginning (pilot) to VLV. They separate. Liz asks if Max loves Tess. He says yes, but not in the same way he loves her (Liz). Liz says, “I guess this is goodbye” and gets out of the jeep. In another shot, she kissed him before getting out of the jeep. A tearful Max slumps over the steering wheel. This was scene number 30, towards the end of the episode.
Apparently Max is fluctuating between being himself and not himself throughout the episode. During one of his ‘himself’ times, he tells Tess that he will go back for the baby, but not for her. He says that he doesn’t lover. Tess storms off.
Shooting Info:
-Colin Hanks was on the call sheet shooting at the rocks yesterday March 28th.
-BOB was smoking and BOB was thrown off a cliff.
-They were shooting at the pod/granolith chamber.
-They shot the whole cast running a few feet.
-There’s a scene where the humans are outside of the pod chamber screaming for the aliens to let them in. Maria and Liz are screaming for Michael and Max.
-Max and Liz hug – one of those staring in the eyes, Max’s hands in Liz’s hair hugs.
-There is an ‘explosion’ at the pod chamber, they were set up with smoke machines etc.
-They have to push a smoking jeep off a cliff in one shot.
-Morning scene had Tess, Max, Valenti, and DF (??). Max was grabbing Tess’ arm and she then stalks off. Max and Valenti argue and Max walks off.
-Scene with Isabel, Max, and Michael. Max runs around from the side of a strange trailer house and jumps into his jeep Bob. They race off.
-Maria and Liz have a scene in the Jetta, driving to the trailer house mentioned above.
-Scene in the Crashdown with Sean, Kyle and Liz at a table. Maria comes up and they talk. Max and Michael enter the Crashdown and Sean and Kyle leave. Max stands, Michael sits.
-Flashback scene with young Michael and Hank.
Unconfirmed:
Max thinks that he his taking Tess home to have the baby, but in reality they are being duped into thinking they have had sex and are now expecting. Tess discovers this, but goes along with it so that she can get home. Max finds out about this almost too late.
The book contains instructions for getting home. Along with personal histories, reproduction instructions etc ... The Granolith is a type of transporter; you must have Royal key to use. Someone else is pulling the strings. Expect one or two guest stars that have been on before.
Remember Brody's comment from "Disturbing Behavior", when he says he'll send a transport for them?
They said that it will play into the season finale. If we get renewed, it will also play into the first or second episode. They said TPTB are really hell bent on going to Antar.
1)The fake baby/sex is revealed to everyone at the pod chamber.
2)Liz makes a connection with the pendent.
3)Kyle tells Max about "sleeping" with Liz.
4)Max's mind warp has been happening for a long time.

How they plan on fitting this into a 45 minute time frame I have no idea.

I wonder if it may be a 2 hour episode? That does sound a bit much for 45min so an hour and a half sounds more likely.

Hey I like what aint-it-cool said, they said that rumor has it Tess is finished and Departure is wrote by Jason Katims! That is like really good. If any of the writers give me hope for happy season finale its him. I hope and pray as a dreamer always.

Yep, Tess bites the dust in the season finale. Can't wait to watch it for that alone! I hate the way she's been all over Max, but I have to admit that he hasn't been beating her away either.

Well, there are more spoilers about the finale and again I found them on the FF board, under Max and Liz thread.
I found out that Bob goes over a cliff, because the pod squad are convinced they are going home, so they send Bob off the cliff to make it look like they had a fatal car accident. Poor Bob.
Liz is the chosen one, Max chooses her of course. He still loves her, and she is the one he gives the pendant to. The king gives his mate the pendant, and yet Max doesn't know this when he gives the pendant to Liz. The alien/hybrids aka pod squad, are supposed to get together with the humans, not with the other members of the squad.
The reason behind the urgency to get back home is the fake pregnancy with Tess. Supposedly the baby can't survive on earth in this atmosphere. Hello...blooper, since they are both alien/hybrids then why wouldn't the baby survive on earth? Tess is evil and has a deal going with Kivar. She gets Max, Kivar gets Antar. The pod squad find out about Tess' plot, something goes wrong with the granolith, and Tess goes poof!

Hi! I'm new here but have been lurking for a while now. I decided to post b/c a friend of mine emailed me some specific spoilers for Departure and I wanted to share it with you cool people.
This is the dialog between Max and Liz during the Jeep scene:

EXT. CRASHDOWN CAFE - NIGHT
Max and Liz sit out front in the Jeep. They face forward. No ** what divisions there are between them now. They are both ** with having to say good-bye to each other and it's making them both think about what they still feel for each other. Max removes the Pendant from his pocket. (The Pendant from their planet they found in Season One.)
Max: I always thought when we graduated I'd give you my ring. It looks like I won't graduate so... This is something from... where I'll be.
Liz: (quiet, sad) I don't need anything to remember you, Max. I need something to forget you.
Max: Please.
She takes the pendant. Holds it in her hands, looks at it.
Liz: (quiet, sad) I can't believe that this is what I of you. I can't believe it. After everything.
Max looks at her, he just has to know:
Max: Liz, you never slept with Kyle, did you?
Liz: You came to me, Max. You came back from the future.
Max: What are you talking about?
Liz: You showed up from fourteen years in the future to tell me the survival of the world depended on you and Tess getting together. That I had gotten in the way.
Max takes this in...
Liz: (cont'd) In this other life. This life that will never happen. We got married. We eloped to Vegas when we were nineteen.
Max: That vision I had of us married in Vegas --
Liz: Was real. Yeah. Anyway, I had to find a way to get you to stop loving me, Max.
Max looks at her, destroyed.
Liz: (cont'd) And it was impossible. You were like this stubborn mule. Finally, I arranged for you to see me and Kyle together. It was the only way I could think to get you to move forward with Tess. (beat) I guess it worked.
Max: Oh my God... Liz...
But there's nothing else for him to say...
Max: (cont'd) I wish... I wish this all could have been different. I wish that so much.
Max looks in her eyes, she looks at him. Something somes through in this look.

Poor Bob... what're they goin to do w/o Bob?! I can't wait for this episode.. (FINALLY, Max and Liz get to kiss again.. it's been too long)... and TESS IS GONE! (WOOHOO!! Sorry to anyone who likes her.. but she's broken my little dreamer heart time and time again so.. i'm glad she's going). Does anyone know what happens in the end? I know Tess is supposed to leave but how do the others decide to stay etc..

I had psoted these spoilers over on the Max and Liz thread on FF and totally spaced posting them over here. So here they are:
Departure - Season Finale
Alien Encounters website; posted by semvbm: There's a script excerpt on the Alien Encounters message board under Spoilers. It's the Jeep scene the Covina crew told us about.
semvbm: From what my source has said, Colin was not at the rocks that day. That doesn't mean he wasn't some where else that day filming. They filmed several scenes in various locations around Agua Dolce. He could have been at one of the other places. So we may not know for sure until the episode aires.
ill being on location that day, same thing goes. My source didn't see him, but he could have been some where else.
Keep in mind too, when they are on location they may film scenes out of order. So you can't read in too much about who was and wasn't there.
What I can say is my soucre saw 7 people go up to the Pod Chamber and only 6 came out. Tess was not one of the 6. Smoke was coming out of the Pod Chamber too.

Midwest Max: Yeah, I know. I think something was wrong with the Change Preferences thing yesterday -- I'd enter in the [*image]www.whatever.com[*/image] thing, minus the stars, and then I'd get an error message after I hit submit, telling me to go back and hit 'refresh' while holding down my shift and control keys. I'd do that, and it would be back to [*img] [*/img], when I'd fix it it would still revert back. Gah.
