Interesting...
Came to see the comments about B&E and so far so center and going more to right wing.
Dope post by the way Merv (Tango). There's a lot of truth in this post and some opinion, both of course were worth seeing.
I don't know about the SNC/B2DU conspiracy. The organizers always seem to try hard to incorporate some if not all the elements, especially that 360 jam I remember.
Targeting groups, people, things might make its easier on everyone's mind in here for such a complex issue. Ken Swift made comment of this "seperating the elements" years ago (prophetic in way). You'll probably here it on some mix tapes.
Things were different back then and change is a natural process and it's alway difficult. This kind of old gen versus new gen idea is pretty cliche itself.
I think one good point to note from the Tango's post (the way I remember it) was that BTX back in the day were always stressing (more so than it would seem bboys are today) on originality. We all got beat in the heads with it.
Think about it this way, it was to the point where a lot bboys were looking pretty basic, powermoves were frowned on too, it seemed (mind you I was still practicing power).
Now, I don't say any of this in a bad way at all either because a good number of the styles, moves, tricks, etc. you're seeing everywhere really evolved (I believe) in Toronto.
The best example I can think of and I don't like to single anyone out but Gizmo seemed to be a very influential guy. His name would pop up (from cats worldwide) on the few tapes that were "allowed" to circle around and you'd see guys in States who one day did basic foundation to the next day doing some stuff that you knew was probably flipped off Gizmo. Still this is all conjecture so whatever.
Re: ...
thx scrambled for posting that...this site was given me a hard time for some reason? goes to show how much i post, hahah...
mphatic, mantis, budda, trebz and even nonsense, i hope you guys had a chance to read my response...
amonius? ammo i'm thinkin, thx too aswell. and you're absolutely rite; gizmo is and always will be the one figure that literally put t.o. on the map. i believe the same, that alot of the things being done, alot that was done, originated here too. ne way, what i found is that the scene worldwide is very reluctant to give props where it's due; only the real heads know.
originality to me is strictly a mindstate that transcends to your body thru movements. 95% mentality 5% movement. i just wanna shout everyone that's helped me along this journey, past n present...the entire btx; giz, teeth, flex (thx alot bro), benzo, 3, mariano, kaso, impact, silence, overproof, t-bag, tic tac and even vinh (even tho we've never met), my bIIb brothas; longshot, lybido, pause, r-two, lazi and finally deadly, piecez, savio, tin tin and jester...thx for the inspiration to create...
"trebz, i don't know why canada hasn't been making impact. perhaps it's because real crews don't exist as a majority anymore. that's str8 up the reason why you probably see the all star theme. and i hear you about the power, and i agree. but to power like the states to beat them at their own game is pointless, we aren't them, they're not us. gain power if you feel the need, and use it as trebz; know what i'm sayin??? "
"but to power like the states to beat them at their own game is pointless"
trust me i kno what you mean
but you can have style in your power (power trix)
etc
the way i see things i look from example
who are the ones winning 1st all over
- massive monkees
- killafornia
-pokemon
etc
each of these crews are well rounded
They win cause they have it all
and i wanna see canada do well
but we have the same mentality as 99 witch wont be as effective now cause everyone is doing style
i wanna see canada win first and aim for first
so all this crap about "do dancing and footwork" "no do power and trix" bogles my mind
.
nonsense.. u would b surprised what korean bboys had become.. ur small example was not used correctly.. from what i'm seeing right now here in Korea, there r alot of nastest bboys. i'm not surprised with their craziest power or freezes, but there r some tru original bboys with some of the sickest styles i've never seen.
Re: .
yeah. some of you cats have this idea on korean bboys that they are all about power and nothing else. i have seen some of the dopest stylists here. some guys are so rawwww. please don't go talking about what the bboys are like in different countries if you haven't been there yourself.

Re: re...
That was a good post... i'm not sure why a lot of people took it as a pro-footwork post... it was more like a pro-vibing, having fun and creativity post... tango wasn't saying why does everyone want to learn power, but just saying people should look inside themselves and in the music a little more... and the same thing goes for people thinking it was an anti-new generation post, if anything it seemed like he was passing the torch, saying you guys are really coming up, here's some advice about what made toronto great in the past, try to incorporate it into what you're already doing...
at the same time i have to say that although people aren't as original in toronto as they used to be, a lot of that is because it was easier to be original back in the 90s. not that it was easy, it's always difficult to break through mental barriers, but i think you have to go a lot further now, and do it without going way out like some circus style people...
there are so many styles (not that people are representing a lot of styles but just that they exist) that its getting really really hard to look different... and as the level of difficulty keeps going up, the foundations with which your working to be creative are getting more and more difficult to master...
i think mostly what he was saying was don't look to other crews and try to compete with them, do whatever the hell you feel when you hear the music, whether its power or footwork or whatever, and make them compete with you.
Re: re...

Re: re...
Dear everybody,
Man where do I start. Yeah I remember going up to Tango one time and saying to him "Man i fuked up the scene". At that time, i felt i screwed things up by throwing too many b2dus, and noticing the slow change of it... and thats why i decided to throw my last few tournaments to try to correct things with the battle to the finish series. My last event at the 360 incorporated all the elements of hiphop, and there definately was a dope vibe there. Thats why i have stopped throwing the small events, because those small events arent what the city needs anymore. When i first threw the first b2du in 99, my reason was to give to the community what i didnt have, and that was a place to battle and be amongst your own peeps... and for a time, it was fukin ill... super raw, alot of vibe. Nobody can deny that @#%$. What i think turned the vibe to the wrong direction, was the lack of support from the older generation crews. I always put all the older generation crews on the list free of charge... because i wanted the younger kids to see what real bboying is all about... but because of the beef or drama or hate, it was abandoned to let it steer its own course.
Everytime somebody talks about the toronto history, they never want to mention how the supernaturalz was around since bag of trix and Intrikit. There are so many worldwide things supernaturalz and myself have won but we dont go saying... hey, you guys remember we won this and that, and got invited here and there. Alot of it is more recent since 2000 when there were only 3 generations of SNC, now there are 5. Im only in the second generation of Supernaturalz. I used to go to all those all ages hiphop jams when hiphop was at its prime. (now theres no such thing as those jams, so its impossible to get things back to the way it used to be.) I saw 3 supernaturalz take on the whole Intrikit crew. (Megas, Marko, and Sheldon) Yes that right, megas was part of supernaturalz before he went with boogie bratz. Anyway, Supernaturalz was around at all those hiphop jams too. But the way my crew chooses to party is different from the other crews. We practise HARD for battling, but we came to those parties to have a good time, check out girls, get down in the side circles.... but the main point is that we always supported the jams, even if we KNEW that the other crews hated us. We werent pussies, we still went. I hear some people ask why didnt we get down in the main circle... well why would we get down in the main circles at a BTX jam or Intrikit jam with all their fans and friends to root them on. But if there was a battle, we would battle, we werent afraid one bit.
As time passed by, yeah we started getting better and making alot of noise on our own. But instead of getting props, we got hate. Im talking about my generation, the second generation when megas was SNC still, around in 97. Saying @#%$ like i bit benzo or gizmo shiet. I would never bite someone @#%$ purposely, what self gratification would i get from that? I may have bit the quality from them, like flexibility from benzo... like what, only benzo can bend his leg or something. I bend my legs in freezes, taking it to another level. I think i got the most inspired from (besides my crew) Gizmo and Flex, because they were smooth and clean and made everything look nice. Gizmo had the most dope original concepts and i wanted to have original concepts too. But without straying away from the point, i think in 99 (start of the 3rd generation of snc) peeps didnt want to give us props because we had a whole bunch of new kids that we were dancing with. So we passed down knowledge and morals and values down to the new generation, thats why they got dope. Even puzzlez was first trained by a former supernatural memeber (megas). Anyway, here i keep rambling not knowing if im getting a point across but what im trying to say is that all we get is blame, no props. Sure we may have done some wrong things in the past but nobody is innocent, not us, not btx, not intrikit, not boogie brats... NOBODY. We are all to blame. I tried my very best to do things for my city, even tried to squash all the beef... I tried to give other people shine, bring other people to the spotlight, organize a team to battle at the UK, and not even a thank you from some people. All the people that im cool with now, i have no problem with, because them just showing me respect and a little tiny acknowlegement is gratifiying enough for me. Now people are trying to down the point system which has worked well with b2du for the last 5 years. I have been using the system all around the world, with people thanking me for being able to show them scores. Even if you are wrongfully judges, the scorecards will atleast give you the proof that the judges WERE infact biased. But now, nobody even wants to look at the sheets and see where they went wrong... everyone thinks they are above the system that me and others have designed after YOUR NEEDS. Remeber that at the shebang jam, IT WASNT MY SYSTEMMMMMMMMMMMMMM. Everyone is trying to duplicate it to get past it the easy way, but not taking the time to even ask me how to make the jam fair... then saying, @#%$ it, we dont need a system.
The past is gone, hip hop mainstreem today isnt what it used to be before. your never gonna get it back to what it was, but you have to go with what is happening today. You cant tell all the new kids what to do. But as a friend you can give advice. Ive only tried to be friends with everyone, something that some of my crew could never understand.
Anyway, im tired of ranting for now, mine isnt as civilized and formal as tango's, but now i have to start doing things for myself again, worrying about my own dancing, instead of trying to work with the toronto scene. Im always going to try to do whats right and whats best for us, but at the same time, no more mister extra nice guy.
dyzee Supernaturalz
a TorontOriginal bboy
PS: i DID NOT double check this for spelling or grammer or for punk ass remarks that im gonna regret and appologize for later, but this is how im really feeling at this very moment which is subject to change when it causes hella contreversy.
Re: Re:
it's dry that there is still arguing about this sh*t, it's wack
the whole thing is simple and yet pointless.
to the new gens who care to read:
I think i understand what you're trying to say and it's making me feel sorry for you and your bros..cause you all have mad passion and potential but you just have LESS factuality... perhaps you're being influenced by closed people mentality wise?
or perhaps it shouldn't matter.... after all bboying is very open in perception.
in the end, there is a lot that you guys see differently, alot you see in common, and a lot ya'll don't understand. one of the things are; dispite what you think, the whole world is not out to get you. the fact is that it's very embarrassing to watch you guys go on with the arguement cause of your pride.
all this talk for comps and winning and all this stuff, feeling confedentaly about you being different with your style, when ya'll don't know the half yet. do you really think in a couple of years you're gonna kings? man im only starting to feel like a bboy and I've been doing this for 7 years. im still learning at this sh*t. I delt with 3 of you guys at once without any power moves either, or did you forget already? that jus says something about where your at for now.
IF all you guys break is for glory, then you'll understand why people are looking at you sadly. we're all guilty of it at somepoint, cause we're human. but yo, you have the chance to make things different... but right now it seems like it's just more about ego than art and Hip-hop
now a lot of older heads have other sh*t to deal with.. it's different world when you get older and the things that made us love this culture may not be the same things that drive you guys.
we all got into it differently and see it differently, I guess jus keep doing your thing cause you guys can be real sick in the future, but yo be conscious of what's up and how you affect the community with your feedback.
ZEN: why are you talking that stuff for? i thought you were better than that.
