Re: you knew this was coming... Matt Nathanson
KJ, I have finally done as I promised and copied some shows for you.
Go me.

Also, I've come to the conclusion that I need someone to send me some newer shows.
The newest ones I have are mid-2004.
I need some 2005 stuff.
I can't download those on my computer for fear that it'll blow up or something equally as bad.
*sigh*
I should get ahold of my Matty Nay hookup and have her copy some.
I hope she has the time.

Happy Valentine's Day.
I totally timed them to get there for it.
Totally.

Okay, that's a lie.
But an awesome freaking coincidence, no?

I am really, really enjoying them so far. As I mentioned before I am very slow when listening to new CDs. So it will take me awhile to get through them all.

But I just wanted to say :ty , again!

Love,

Well, I'm glad you like them anyway.

He rocks live!

I'm adding him to my list.

Unfortunately, artists don't frequent Oklahoma unless they are country artists....or they're from here. BOOOO! :wah

Well, Texas is just a short drive south, my dear.
And I think we both know a certain Texan who'd love to see you. ;)

I'm already kicking myself every day for not driving south to see John/Maroon 5 at The Woodlands in '04 and DRH last year.

I had no idea everyone I KNOW was that that DRH concert. :(

Well...I tried to get Karla to come down to Dallas to see Matt with me on April 15th but she has a wedding to attend that day!

I am really excited to see him live for the first time! I cannot tell you how many times people have told me that he is amazing live.

Re: you knew this was coming... Matt Nathanson

Ok, went to see Matty on Saturday night in Dallas. He played the Gypsy Tea Room (literally the tea room, which means we were crammed in a tiny room). We went late so we wouldn't have to sit through the opener and spent the time enjoying conversation in a smoke-free room instead. Haha. Once we got there, the opener (a dude from Houston who apparently wasn't good at all) was finishing his last song. Perfect timing!

We settled on the edge of the crowd behind a group of tall people...I swear, everyone there was six feet tall. Matt came out about 20 min later. The show started and the group of ridiculously drunk people headed up to the very front side of the stage to be as loud and as annoying as possible.

This was my first time see Matt, so everything was brand new to me. I had prepared myself for a much dirtier mouth than I got. HA! He was endearing and soooo much fun. I loved him pointing at people in the middle of his stories and making fun of their reactions. My favorite was when he was asking if we all knew the song "Jesse's Girl" and said this guy made a face and then Matt acted like he couldn't help but play the song...like he had no control. It was so great.

The set was cool because it was a mix of stuff I knew and stuff I didn't plus a few covers. I suppose this is a standard kind of setlist for him but since I'm new to it all, I was excited.

On to the pictures!

Apparently, my camera sucks balls in low light. Sorry for the crappy crappy quality. His face had a small amount of light but apparently not enough for my camera!

I also took a video of him playing "Little Victories" into "America" by James Taylor. Solo acoustic if you please:

www.gofish.com/video.gfp?gfid=30-1029256

There you have it.

I was thoroughly pleased and I will definitely go see him every other time he's nearby. Totally won me over. All I kept thinking about is that I wanted to be his friend and have him come over and hang out and play in my living room. He's awesome.

:inlove

YES!
I am so glad you got to finally enjoy the Matty Naynay love.
He's such a wondeful, down-to-earth, funny person.
*sigh*
I need to start a fund so I can see him the next time he comes through Chicago.

I finally got my copy of 'At the Point'.
Unlike some other people that seem to have unlimited funds, though, I only bought one copy.
I may see if I can pick up another one, though, for a friend of mine.

during one song somewhere, he got freaked out by the rumbling subway because it's so unexpected. it's also directly underneath the venue. he also stuck a water bottle down his pants before "don't stop believin'" to get himself in journey mode (this clarifies the banter). joe's pub also put on disco ball lights when he started playing "stayin' alive."
