hey, my names Katey, Im 16... junior in highschool. I became a John fan in late 2003, but didnt know much about him, just listened to his music. Then I saw him live in Aug. 2004, and since then its been a bit of an obsession. I like to think Im not some crazed teeny-bopper fan, but I guess you all will be the one to judge that.
Im really impressed with this board so far, and cant wait to see what happens with it!
Newbie!
Hiya! I'm Cait, 21 from Boston. I'm a senior at BU studying music ed. I can't even remember when I got into John Mayer...i wanna say 2000 or 2001, but it's been one of the best decisions i've ever made! I joined because this forum seems like it's a little...nicer than some of the other jm forums out there so hopefully I won't feel bad posting every once in a while!
intro
hey- im amber and i am 15...i know one of the younger ones.. but doesnt mean one of the immature ones either...hopefully.. i live in california and got into JM about 2 years ago and then i REALLY got into JM recently....one of my biggest regrets that haunts me is..passing up on a chance to go to a JM concert..he even came right to our town, but i did not know him then...i know, horrible.i have not been to one of his concerts..but i am hoping to go SOON and know it will be amazing

Tyler, I'm 18 livin in NYC but from LA. College at NYU, I got into John fall 2002 hearing YBIAW on the radio everyday on the way to school. I then heard it on Leno in Dec. '02 and connected a name and face to the song. The next day I was in a record store and my friends were buying CD's. I never really owned CD's so I bought RFS and just listened straight through... now i'm hooked. First concert in Irvine 04, next night in Chula Vista, then two shows at Webster Hall. Lovin' it, ready for the trio.
introduce yourself
Hey, My name is Cindy from N.C, i'm 26 and have been a huge Mayer fan since 2000. I first heard him from a friend and have been hooked ever since. I have been to 5 of his concerts, and have had the chance to meet him twice, which I must say was the best experiance ever, the guy is awesome.

Hi Everyone.. I'm Val, I'm 36 years old and I live in Michigan. I just found this board and i've enjoyed reading it so far.. I'm kind of a new John fan.. Just since the beginning of 2004. I wish I could have been a fan from the very beginning, but my life was a bit of a mess back then. I've seen John 2 times in concert, but have never met him.
I see a lot of familiar names from MSM.. I read MSM everyday, but rarely post, I also post on VH1.. Haven't joined L-83 yet.. maybe I should??
Nice to meet you all!!
Val

My name is Sarah. I have only recently become a huge John Mayer fan when I just on the spur of the moment decided to go see him in concert at Shoreline this past summer. The night that I went to see him live was what sealed the deal. The way that he plays and how he makes you feel so involved and apart of what he is feeling made me feel one with him. I think that it is so funny to think that I am not the only one who feels the way that I do about a person that I have never even met.
I too am a member of the L-83. I think that most people will agree with me that that is sort of a waste of money. Why don't they update. This is why I found this place. Its small environment with hopfully happy people is just what I need. Thanks...

Holla! My name is Tanya. Im a 22yr old chick from Sydney, Australia. Ive been following Mayer since 2000 and as such am a relative newbie. I study Radiography at the University of Sydney but hate it. Will be studying Music at said uni come this time next year.

Hi, my name is Kelly. I'm 25 and from Alabama. I'm an art student (hey, is it possible to start an art thread here?) and will graduate in May 2006.
I remember hearing YBIAW on WRAX in Birmingham and downloading the "Live in the X Lounge" version from Napster. I bought my first John CD, AGT, solely because it was recorded in B'ham. I thought it was great to have someone record a show in the state that wasn't a drunk, country crooner covering "Sweet Home Alabama" for the umpteenth time. I was impressed with his live album (anyone can sound good on a studio album; you've got to pull it off live) and started to "research" him. The day HT came out, I learned he was coming to B'ham in November. My first show was 11/19/2003 on second row and meet and greet (I'm a presale success story) with my unconvinced best friend. I was floored. Up until then everyone I had seen was rehearsed and choreographed with the same set list and punch lines. John was the complete opposite. I didn't know a guitar could do "that." He is so talented and seems to adore what he does. It may sound kooky, but it's made me rethink some of my tastes in music and introduce me to people I would have never listened to otherwise.
The now completely convinced best friend and I have seen John seven times since that first show. Shows eight and nine will be Nashville and Atlanta respectively. I love planning the road trips. It's really half the fun of going.

Hey Kelly!
Fantastic to see you here. The art thread is a great idea - feel free to start one anytime. Great success story about meeting the man. That hasn't happened for me yet. Anyway, Welcome to Great Indoors!
Hello
My name is Karla. I'm 30 years old (for a few more months anyway). I have been married for 11 years and I live in Oklahoma.
I was kind of late on the John Mayer boat. I didn't know who he was until he won a Grammy for YBIAW. I had heard the song and liked it, but had no idea who it was. I quickly bought RFS, AGT and IWO to catch up and have stayed with him ever since.
I have only been to one concert so far (Nov. 2003)...but am patiently waiting for another opportunity.
hey
Hi everyone. I finally decided to post. Hope everyone's fine.
My name is Karina, I'm 26 and I live in Brazil. I have known John's music for about a year and a half now, so I'm definitely a late boomer. But the way the music has touched and changed my life ever since is HUGE.
John's music has been an inspiration and almost like a best friend who's always there for me. I started taking guitar lessons and managed to rebuild lots of emotional structures through singing about certain feelings on a daily basis. And I'll owe that to music forever.
Last but not least, I've made great friends in Brazil and abroad. People I really care about now and who I could only meet because of this one thing we had in common: our love for music!
So here I am. Score1more4me: I'm on a new message board!
