Re: About The Weather
It's supposed to be 100 here tomorrow. This is Buffalo. I want some snow, damn it!
Mike's been going with the Red Cross almost every day to hand out water and food. It was so cute today when I told him how hot it was going to be and he got all concerned: "Drink plenty of water and don't spend too much time in the sun."

Re: About The Weather
It's been hanging out in the 80s up here in Missoula ever since I arrived... aparently last week it got up to 102 which is unheard of! Kalispell (if you're not familiar with the region, it's kind of like the main town up near Glacier NP) has seen lows in the 30s-- it's funny because this week they're breaking records for lows and last week they broke records for highs! It's a little weird. The weather man just shakes his head when he gives the reports.
On another note, I've been informed by my NM contacts that they've been bombarded with a ton of rain since I left... it's so bad that multiple cities have been flooded (including ABQ and my little town of Socorro-- where I grew up). I told them that NM misses me (Rain=tears) and that if I came back all would be bright clear skies and stuff.

Lucky! I'm still waiting for a reprieve
It's still brutally hot.
Tomorrow: 98F, Isolated thunderstorms. Heat index near 110F.
ETA: If I wasn't in an air-conditioned office, I'd like to do this:
Re: About The Weather
I considered doing that ^ yesterday when I was driving home from work and passed not one but two fountains in local parks.
It stormed overnight here and it has cooled off significantly today.
It was actually comfortable walking my dogs tonight.
Unfortunately, it's supposed to be warm again this weekend (mid-to-upper 80s Saturday and low-to-mid 90s Sunday).

It definitely cooled down significantly. I didn't walk out of the house today wishing that I could crawl into a freezer. Still warm (90F) but I'll take a 10-15 degree drop And it might rain again today, so that's a plus.
I agree...summer has been way too hot this season. I wish Fall was longer than it actually is (well, than it feels).

Re: About The Weather
Today I woke up the sound of the grass burning. I walked outside at 7:00 AM and felt the heat blast cook the first layer of my skin off. It also left my hair in the same condition that a bad perm does. After I stopped, dropped and rolled, I walked back into the house and fell into bed for another hour...
The Air Conditioner in our home gave up during the 4th of July, instead of trying to kill the heat, its now trying to negotiate with it. So far, the heat is kicking the A/C's ass. The candles are melting without being lit and our poor dog has tried to dig a hole in the wood floor.
I finally made it to the office and went back outside at about 5:00 PM. I went to my black truck, opened the door and burst into a fireball not seen since Backdraft. Its now after 7 here and its still 106. In short, its hot. The forcast calls for damned hot and continued damned hot until further notice...
Re: About The Weather
I'm already wearing my fall clothes, Michelle. It's like 64ish every morning when I leave for work. I'm totally wearing a sweater today.

Picture taken at 12:20pm today...
Apparently, this is what it's like all winter... no sun, fog- 50 yards up or on the ground- but much colder.
It's so dark and rainy today... after all the bright sunny mornings, today it was very difficult to wake up. "But it CAN'T be 7 am, I'm not blinded by the light!"

Re: About The Weather
I have made my peace with the heat. I have decided to embrace it and quit complaining. At least its a challenge everyday.
Fall isn't at all challenging. No one ever dies by being outdoors. But summer and winter turn each weatherperson into their viewer's parents. Don't go outside.. OR YOU COULD DIE! There are never falling acorn warnings or falling leaf warnings in the fall, but there is always a heat index in the summer and a wind chill index in the winter. During the summer, the weatherman is a star, in the fall, he is the sideshow.
So I'll take the heat this summer.. and despite your warnings Mr. Weatherman, I will continue to go outside, I'll intentionally engage in strenuous activity in the heat of the day and I might not drink enough water.. then I'll come in the house, run with the scissors and sit too close to the TV while you tell me that I should be dead because I dared to willfully disregard your warnings.
