I watched a good chunk of the marathon too! Truth be told, I only tuned into it last year b/c one of Ari Hest's song was featured, but then I realized, this is a really good show! I've been waiting for it to come back and I'm glad season two is finally here.
Re: Army Wives
I was very impressed with the show too. It just happened to be on when I turned my TV on that day or I probably would have missed it. It was just meant to be.
I did laundry last night, so I didn't get to watch my DVRed episode yet, but I think I will tonight.
Word to new TV. I am so sick of flipping channels trying to find something. I watched In Plain Sight on USA, it wasn't a bad show. I'll probably tune in again. I also watched 30 Days on FX.

Re: Army Wives
Army Wives is just too awesome for words. My heart broke a couple weeks ago when they had that episode where some of the soldiers came home. Most of their families were there to greet them excitedly but there were two soldiers there who didn't have any family show up. It wasn't made into this huge drama or anything, but you just saw Claudia Joy and Col. Holden walk up to them and welcome them home. I liked that part a lot. It showed their sense of responsibility, loyalty and connection to their fellow military families. It wasn't even really a plotline, but I was so sad to think that there are situations like that where people come back from fighting for this country and there's no one there to greet them.
Switching gears, anyone watch the Baby Borrowers? Yikes...
Oh my gosh, I am so glad you mentioned that! That scene was so sad! I literally had tears welled up in my eyes. That is probably the worst thing ever to have no one to come home to after risking your life day after day for your country.
PS - That Melissa Lawson girl on Nashville Star reminds me of Laurel!
This is not the greatest picture, but it'll give you the idea:
