Quote: - I was looking forward to Lupin coming back as well, since he's one of my favourite characters. But he's most probably going to make a reappearance in one of the later books. I hope he teaches again. He was really cool. Actually, when Barty Crouch was pretending to be Mad Eye Moody, he was a pretty cool DATA teacher, even though he was completely crazy.
You know, I wonder if perhaps the real Mad-Eye Moddy was as completely whacked and cool as this. I think he used to be quite similar, from the glimpses we get of him when Harry is sucked into Dumbledore's memories, but six months in a little box, well, that could really alter his personality. I wonder if he'll continue on teaching DATDA.
Quote: - I don't think Harry and Hermione will start dating. He never seems to show any real 'lovey' feelings for her, but Ron seems to be fiercely loyal and shows much more affection to Hermione. Well, that's how I see it...
That's how I've seen it, too. Especially the way Ron reacted upon finding out Hermione was going with Victor. And then the dance. (Which I thought was sooooo funny, because that's the way dances go a lot of times.) I'm definitely with you on that one.
Quote: - Personally, I think Snape might favour Malfoy, because his dad was an old friend of his, and because he might want to try and win Malfoy's favour so to get Draco onto the Light Side. After all, Lucius is not always that nice to his son, and Snape is particularly pleasant to him, so Draco might be lured to the right track.
That's an interesting thought. I hadn't looked at it like that. The thing is, if he's trying to teach him to be good, I think he's going about it the wrong way. No punishment for wrong-doing is not, imho, the best way to convince someone to be good.
Quote: - I hate Fudge more than ever now. I never particularly liked him, but he seems to be so much more mean and prejudiced, and completely stupid (I just think he acts very stupidly sometimes). I think he's a really bad Minister of Magic. He's terrible at his job. He's constantly running to Dumbledore. I think he'll finally succumb to what Dumbledore wants though, or at least I hope se. Fudge isn't strong enough to hold his own ground.
My concern is that he won't realize he's bitten off way more than he can chew before it's too late to do anything about it. I mean, he used to trust Dumbledore, too, and when Dumbledore tells him about it, he refuses to listen. I think perhaps he had gotten too high an opinion of himself. In the first book, Hargid talks about how he isn't really competent, and he knows it, 'cause he's always asking Dumbledore for help, but here he is rejecting advice. Perhaps he's started to believe those who bow to him because he's the Minister of Magic.

-yes! I remember that chapter. Moody did seem quite cool then during the trial... I guess I didn't remember it, because I keep on thinking that, that Moody at Hogwarts and Moody in the trial are the same. I still can't believe that Moody wasn't who he seemed to be. It's quite a shame really..

True, but... hmm, I think I mean it more in the sense, of Draco will find some safety and trust in Snape- (yes, I know this sounds completely strange and out of character), therefore thinking that if Snape rejected the Dark Side, then the Dark Side is not good at all. I don't think Draco's really capable of killing anyone, which is what you are required to do as a Death Eater. If you ask me, even though he's my favourite character, I think he is quite a coward. I hope he doesn't become a Death Eater though, and will learn to defy his father.

- I absolutely agree. I wonder if he gets taught a lesson in Book 5 that will make him listen to Dumbledore again? I hope so anyway
well I think i've commented enough for now... Good thread Night Traveler Edited by captain Tarpols at: 7/22/00 6:44:37 pm
Re: true...
Fuge will hopefully be kicked out of office in book 5! He doesn't seem to knowlagable and as you have pointed out, he keeps on asking Dumbledore for help! (BTW, i edited the message to make the quotes work)
Not only was he acting more arrogant than usual, but why was he so against doing something about Voldemort, or even admitting to him being back in power?
I'll post again when I've thought it more, and maybe read the books again...
thanks captain tarpols!
yes, there has to be something up with Fudge.. he's acting really suspiciously.. I was a bit suspicious of Dumbledore too, when he had that 'gleam of triumph' in his eyes though.. I wonder what that's all about..
Re: thanks captain tarpols!
I don't know if there's something more up with Fudge than that he just doesn't want to face the truth. There are people like that, and many like a leader who will tell them, "Oh, it's okay, don't panic, we have everything under control," even if they don't.
As for that gleam in Dumbledore's eye, I think perhaps that it might be something that LV having Harry's blood means, something that Harry will be able to use. I mean, Harry supposes in book 1 that Dumbledore knew they were going to go after the Stone and helped them. I think it might be something similar, that he knows what's going on, perhaps better than anyone else, and that it is something along the same lines. He's completely trustworthy, imho, but I might be a little biased.

You can't let fear run your life. Because fear leads to anger, anger leads to hate, hate leads to anger. No wait, that not it. hate leads to fear, nah that not it either. lets see, first come the fear, then the anger, then the hate......
