1st September, 19:00 - Feast Time! (Gryffindor Table)
(ooc: This is the layout we expect you to use for your posts - date, time, appropriate posticon and a title for your thread. Also, write which character you are playing ... makes it easier if you have more than one character.)
Sirius
Sirius bounced into the Great Hall happily, James trailing behind him. He spread his arms wide to the room and spun round in a circle. 'Ahhhh, I'm HOME!' he declared loudly. Seizing James, he danced a waltz to an imaginary tune in his head, waltzing up to the Gryffindor table and jumping onto a free seat.
He was truly happy to be back at Hogwarts. He'd enjoyed the summer with the Potters but it wasn't home, and never would be. He was grateful for their hospitality at the same time as he resented the fact he didn't have real freedom from any rules. He needed his own place. However, now, his stomach demanded attention .... but there was no food yet. Dammit. He leaned over and whispered to James, 'I wish there wasn't a Sorting - I'm sooo hungryyy, I'm going to faint.'

James walked into the main hall with the rest of the marauders, grinning to himself. It was odd that a mischief maker and rule breaker such as himself could ever be happy that he was back at school...but Hogwarts was no ordinary school. Even having grown up in a magical household, James still felt some degree of awe at some of the higher level magic....and, most importantly, Hogwarts was a second home to him - a place not just of learning, but of adventure, pranks, fun and friends. As Sirius had just declared, they were most definately home.
A casual glance around showed James many many familiar faces - of course Sirius, Remus and Peter were closest to him....he caught a glance of Lily too before he was distracted by a hyper Sirius, who'd decided to lead his best mate on a merry little dance...literally. James laughed and attempted to waltz gracefully, without much luck - he nearly tripped over a secondie before Sirius let go and flopped himself into a seat. James grinned and shook his head, dropping into a seat next to Siri. "Well, someones in a good mood! I guess it's the thought of seeing McGonagall again - i knew you two had a thing going on!" James was teasing of course - he took great delight in bringing up the fact that Sirius could charm just about any teacher...except McGonagall. Or, so everyone had thought - but it seemed that over the years, the old transfiguration teacher had softened, and even smiled at some of Sirius's minor pranks. Inside, James wondered if McGonagall (or any of the teachers appart from Dumbledore) knew about the incident last year...he decided that if she did, she would have wasted no time hauling Sirius into her office and giving him an earful.
Sirius grinned and slugged James playfully on the shoulder. 'Yeah, that McGonagall is one foxy laydeee.' He rolled his eyes.
He was glad to be back at Hogwarts for another reason - the pranking opportunities. At James' house, they'd not exactly had anyone to play pranks on, so had resorted to planning out elaborate set-ups involving James' family. Of course, not many had actually come to fruition, Sirius being slightly scared of James' dad in particular.
He glanced around the room and sighed in satisfaction. All those Slytherins over at their table ... and of course, other houses were not exactly immune. Plus the girls .... yum, the girls. Being the oldest year in the school was bound to have some advantages - they might even have some groupies! Heh heh.
He nudged James, 'Some of those girls look like good fun ...' He pointed over to a group at the Ravenclaw table that included a few pretty girls. He hoped to get James off his Lily 'obsession' which was obvious even to Sirius. Sirius and Lily had never truly got along, she was too fond of following the rules to be much fun. Then again, so was Remus. Sirius steered away from those thoughts and focused again on the girls, watching their animated faces as they talked.

Re: 1st September, 19:00 - Feast Time! (Gryffindor Table)
James
As anticipated, Sirius thwacked him for his joke, but James didn't mind...things had thankfully settled between him and Sirius over the summer, and although he knew that their friendship would never be completely the same, things were almost back to normal...or, as normal as a friendship with Sirius could ever be.
Sirius was 'talent spotting' again and James rolled his eyes as the boy pointed out some 'fun' girls. "...Yes...very pretty Sirius. I'm sure you'll have gotten into their knickers before the end of the week." he shook his head - Sirius was still as much a play-boy as ever...whilst The Prank may have made Sirius more aware of how dangerous his 'jokes' could be, it had not matured him enough to make him realise that there was more to a relationship than sex.
'Well .... they are pretty!' Sirius said defensively. 'There just seem to be more girls this year than ever - or more opportunities to bed the girls!' His eyes gleamed at the thought. 'I can just see it now - luring the girls to the Astronomy Tower and charming them ...'
He had definitely missed the charms of feminine company this summer. He kind of wished he hadn't exhausted most of the possibilities in Gryffindor House, and had to avoid half of the girls that lived there ... but this didn't put him off going after other girls from other houses. Especially girls who he had to chase. He liked the chase sometimes.
Remus
Remus had followed the other Marauders into the hall. He'd not missed the fact that Sirius seemed to just be talking to James and avoiding anything but necessary talk with Remus. True, both boys had only really spoken through James or Peter throughout the summer. Remus was still mightily annoyed with Sirius for the Prank. However, it was nice to be back at school again, witnessing Sirius' silliness. Remus sat on the other side of James, Peter sitting beside him. He didn't really relish talking to Sirius any time soon, for he knew they'd just have another huge argument. However, he couldn't suppress a snort at the way Sirius was talking - the boy just sounded too cocky for words.

Re: 1st September, 19:00 - Feast Time! (Gryffindor Table)
James
James smiled and shook his head - he knew he'd never convince Sirius that sex was not everything...it was just one of Sirius's quirks. "Just remember that the rest of us want to sleep at night - i've still not forgiven you for not using a secrecy charm that time!" he shuddered at the memory - he'd been so disturbed that he, and the others, had actually spent the night in the common room in conjoured sleeping bags...they hadn't been brave enough to try breaking the...happy couple...up.
He shot the others a grin as they sat opposite them, knowing that bringing that up was one way of getting Sirius to be quiet...at least, for a few minutes. He glanced at Remus, trying to catch his eye...he wondered if the boy was ok, for he had been rather quiet since they met at the platform this morning.
Ali (...i know, i'll get the profile done in a bit :P)
It had been a long day - for the past 7 years, the first of september had always been tiring...it was the day that all Hogwarts students went back to school. Ali had been up at 6am, frantically going through her trunk because she thought she'd forgotten something....then she'd shoved everything uncerimoniously back in before stumbling around her room, getting dressed and washed. By the time her parents were up and ready, Ali was raring to go...she loved her family and her home, but she loved Hogwarts too, and the fact that it was her last year there meant she wanted to make the most of it.
It took a 3 hour drive to get up to London...Ali wouldn't have minded going via floo or even knightbus by herself, but her parents insisted on seeing her off at the station. She found a small smile tugging at her lips as she thought about her family. Her mum had gotten the hang of not crying as she waved goodbye to her eldest daughter...in fact, the parting this morning had been quite nice, and her mum had smiled proudly as she'd disappeared off to the train that would take Ali to Hogwarts, and her final year of magical training....of course they may have been more reluctant to let her go if they had realised that half of the crimes on the muggle news these days were in fact commited by wizards. Ali had not been getting the Daily Prophet delivered, but from letters and conversations with other students, she knew that there was unrest in the wizarding community - Voldemort was gaining power and supporters...and the effects were slowly spreading to the Muggle community.
Someone jostled...no...danced past, bring Ali back down to earth. She blinked then smiled at the sight of James and Sirius dancing down to the Gryffindor table...it was good to be back...whilst she might not approve of Slytherin baiting, she did have to smile at some of the Marauders antics. They'd grown on her over the years, and she knew that when the year was out, she would miss them. With this in mind, she chose a seat near the boys...although, not close enough to be a victim to the customary First Prank Of The Year...then she looked for Lily, who had been somewhere close in the crowd.

Re: 1st September, 19:00 - Feast Time! (Gryffindor Table)
(ooc: Shhh ... I still haven't finished Siri's off yet)
Sirius
Sirius blushed. He'd never heard the last of that little mistake. 'Why do you think I take my girls up to the Tower these days?' he asked cheekily. He glanced around the Hall, seeing who else had arrived.
He noticed Remus and Peter on the other side of James, and frowned. What, were they scared to sit beside him now? He knew Remus was probably still annoyed at him, but Peter too?
His good mood at being back at school was slowly slipping through his fingers, to be replaced by a strange and uncharacteristic sadness. He wished he had something to distract him from his own thoughts. He was close to James still, mainly due to their good summer together, but it hurt to be so distant with his other friends.
*It's just a thing called guy* - Alanis Morissette
“Drat!” A Slytherin sixth year had “accidentally” ended up shoving Lily up against a wall, making her lose sight of where her best friend, Aly Danvers had gone to. Her Gryffindor robes standing out against a swarm of yellow ones, for she had gotten stuck in a herd of Hufflepuffs, she had forgotten her annoyance by entering the great mahogany entrance. Surveying the Great Hall in all its splendor, Lily took in a deep breath that filled her lungs. Passing a few scared first years, who were clumped together in corners, she saw a tiny girl with shiny red hair, similar to her own glancing eagerly around. At first thinking the girl appeared awfully young to be a first year, the realization of her being old hit her. This was her final year at Hogwarts, and around this time next year she’d be out in the wizarding world, away from her haven of warmth and security. Where had all the time gone?
She shook her head slightly, not wanting to reminisce and get all teary-eyed about the subject. Lils had throughout her years grown to embrace her school with a deep love and admiration. When she first arrived at Hogwarts the idea of magic was still a mystical game to her, for never in her wildest dreams did she realize she had stumbled upon a totally different world from the Muggle one to which she belonged. Now as one of the oldest, she almost was jealous at the ones who had more than one year left.
Her parents had taken her leaving for Hogwarts hard this morning. Her mother had started to cry, and her dad had been very silent until it was time for him to say goodbye to her as she got onto the train. Even Petunia had been half-pleasant in helping her transport all of her belongings into the car, exclaiming, “Until next year freak!” as the sister poked her with a protruding nail. Usually the only thing Lily heard from her sibling were insults under her breath, so this was a big change, though Lily knew her sister was only in a happy mood because she was leaving. Petunia loathed her with an extreme hate, but she had had to be around Lily for her mother’s birthday. Otherwise Lily wouldn’t have seen her, and although she missed her sister terribly most of the time, the Evans family was better off with the “only one daughter at the house at a time” arrangement.
Spotting Sirius and James dancing amuck around the Gryffindor table, Lily rolled her eyes dramatically, deciding that some people never changed. She was going to have to work extra hard this year to make up for all of the Gryffindor points that would be taken away because of that duo, even though she personally didn’t care very much about winning the House Cup. Still, all she knew was that if Potter and his little gang even attempted to pull their first trick of the year on her, they’d be dead meat before they raised their wands. Watching the usually suave Sirius “attempt” to dance was so funny however that she ended up smiling, for even though he did look like an idiot, girls from nearby tables were still fawning over him.
After exchanging conversations with people around the Gryffindor table, Lily fortunately saw Ali Danvers sitting nearby and gleefully ran over to her, practically jumping to hug her friend around the neck. “ALI!” She hadn’t seen the girl for quite some time as they had continually missed each other over the summer with trips and the like. (OOC:I hope you don’t mind, but I’m assuming they’re very good friends – were they best friends or no? Bluesy can’t remember)
“There you are! I was looking all over for you – I ended up getting lost in a sea of Hufflepuffs who had forgotten where to go” Grinning from ear to ear, Lily gracefully sat beside her friend, eager to hear if any gossip had already been exchanged at the Gryffie table. Lily had been gone for three weeks for a final trip before school started, so she was still catching up on what had happened to everyone. Gathering her red hair up into her hands, she ran her fingers through it and placed it on her left shoulder, letting it cascade down her left side. James unfortunately was a few seats down from her, and now noticing him Lily wished that she had sat across from Aly so she wouldn’t have to look at him.
Seeing her good friend Remus next to him however, Lily quickly changed her distressed look into a smile, playfully winking at the boy to say hello. Having been a prefect with him last year, Lily felt closer to him then to the others of their little gang, as they both knew what the other had to go through when things went wrong. She had also been one of the few to know about the prank (Ooc: if Lils doesn’t know, I’ll change this part) and so she had definitely felt differently about the boy now that she understood him a little better. Turning again towards Aly, Lily smoothed her robes carefully. “So… have you heard anything new about anyone yet? Has Potter gotten in trouble for any jinxes he’s performed today?”
Re: 1st September, 19:00 - Feast Time! (Gryffindor Table)
ooc: well they've been in the same dorm for 6 years, so i think its safe to assume they're good friends and i dont know if Lily knows about the prank...i think she knows he's a werewolf, but he's not told anyone else about sirius's...mistake.
James
James gave up trying to catch Remus's eye, and instead gave Siri a slightly sympathetic smile...things would be difficult for Sirius...he had betrayed Remus in the worst possible way, and James knew that it would take more than a few months to fix...Remus did not give his trust lightly. But, James was determined to keep them all together - Sirius was like a brother to him, and he could not abandon him, no matter what idiotic thing's he'd done...and Remus...well, he was one of James's best friends, and when Sirius had been outcast from the group for a month, James had really come to appreciate how brave, and emotionally strong Remus really was. Remus needed his friends, and so James would try to do everything he could to make things right again.
He was about to say something when the sound of Lily's voice made him stop. He smiled, despite knowing he would be teased for it - but she looked so cute! Her eyes were bright, despite how tired everyone was, Lily looked as alert as ever. He unconciously ran his fingers through his hair, making his black mane scruffier rather than neater. He opened his mouth again, but Ali had already engaged Lily in conversation...and after his failed attempts at being suave on the train, he decided to leave her be for now. Instead, he turned back to the Marauders "So...Peter...did you have a good summer?" Pete was the only one of the group he hadn't spoken to much already - he obviosuly knew what Sirius had been through this summer, and had sat with Remus in the prefects compartment, so was able to catch up with him too.
Peter
Peter shrugged and figited a little in his seat - the tense atmosphere between Sirius and Remus made him nervous. Sirius was a jerk as often as he was friendly, Peter knew that....he only really put up with the boys abusive comments because James seemed to value Sirius's friendship. James was, in Peters opinion, the best Marauder, and far nicer to him than Sirius. Remus was alright, and helped him a lot....but the lycanthropey issue still made him a little twitchy, especially after the incident last year.
"Uh...it was ok. Nothing really exciting...Mum and i went to visit my aunt for a week, she lives in Germany." he shrugged again, inching away from both Remus and Sirius a little. "Heard about the muggle killings too...apparently...'he' has been associated with them. The ministry is begining to take 'him' seriously i think." Peter was already too scared to say the name 'Voldemort', as if it could summon the Dark Wizard right to them.
Ali
Someone yelled her name, and she looked up in time to see Lily darting towards her. She grinned - then let out a slight yelp as the girl hugged her around the neck - she patted her friends arm and chuckled "Wow - nice to get such an enthusiastic greeting - i'm happy to see you too!" Lily's grip eased and the girl sat next to her instead.
Ali turned to her, still grinning, it felt like ages since they'd really been able to talk - They'd not seen much of each other over the summer and even today when they were both on the train, Lily, being Head Girl, had had to sit in the prefects compartment and do several patrols in order to keep the kids in check. "Well, putting aside the traumatic experiance of getting dragged off by the tide of Hufflers, how are you?" she glanced in James's direction as he ruffled his hair, then back to Lils..."Did you have a good train journey?" she asked, oh so innocently. She'd heard that James had been made Head Boy - it had, quite frankly, amused her for quite some time...even more amusing was the fact that he and Lily would have to work closely together this year, much to her friends distress.
Remus tried to shake himself out of his slightly melancholy mood as he noticed Lily winking at him. Determined that just because he was annoyed at Sirius, he wouldn't be annoyed with everyone, he smiled back at Lily. He was distracted by James' reaction to seeing Lily though - the boy checked on his hair and his eyes lit up.
Remus couldn't fail to notice that Peter seemed to move away from him as he spoke to James. So that made things uncomfortable with both Peter and Sirius. James seemed to be the gathering point of the group, the only one everyone was speaking to. Well Remus was determined to change that. He had stayed in the prefect carriage for most of the journey up to Hogwarts, speaking to others that he got along with, people who knew nothing of his lycanthropy or the Prank. He'd felt more comfortable with them, avoiding Sirius, and Peter too, although he had no problems with Peter.
Peter mentioned the Muggle killings, and Remus frowned thoughtfully. He'd read in the Prophet many stories about these killings, and that a wizard named 'Voldemort' was supposedly involved. 'Do you mean that 'Lord' guy?' he asked Peter, 'He seems to be involved in a lot of strange stories over the summer. There was also stuff about giants killing people, both wizards and Muggles, and I thought they had been moved away to the mountains? Werewolves were supposed to be killing as well, and allied with this Voldemort.'
Remus was careful to keep his voice neutral. He heartily disliked the negative connotations associated with those stories. Werewolves were seen as crazy beasts, being able to change at will and murder people. Remus knew that wasn't true, and hated the prejudices people seemed to carry against werewolves in the press.
Sirius
Sirius was bored with all this dull talk, though his ears perked up when Remus mentioned werewolves. He studied his friend carefully. Why had Remus chosen now to bring up werewolves, especially in consideration that he was at the Gryffindor table, surrounded by people? Maybe it was just to get on his nerves. Sirius scowled, and wished he'd sat somewhere else ... near some pretty girls to distract him would have been good.
*It's just a thing called guy* - Alanis Morissette
Leaning a little to see what Ali was looking at, the grin disappeared from Lily’s face as she saw the Gryffindor boy that she disliked the most – James Potter. She pursed her lips together and brought her arms closer to her chest. “I was wondering when you’d ask me that. I think you know just about how much fun I had on that train ride.”
Nonchalantly looking in his direction so it wasn’t obvious Lily stared at James, her green eyes narrowing on his stupid, idiotic face. “I respect Dumbledore more than anyone, but I don’t know what he was thinking when he appointed James. I’d even prefer to have Sirius be Head Boy, even though I’d have to do twice as much work watching over every girl and closet in Hogwarts. Just look at him – running his fingers in his hair like he always does. I hope his hair falls out. There. I’m done with my venting. Thank you for listening, Als”
With that statement she stopped speaking, for there was only so much time in which Lily could be angry. Besides, she despised talking bad about people, even if it was James. As she tried to change the subject her eyes went to Sirius, where Lily couldn’t help but check him out – he really did get cuter every year. Nudging Ali in the side, she playfully got her special “Lily look” on her face, her emerald eyes flickering to and fro. “So… did you have a nice train ride? Maybe you sat with a certain Black character, who wasn’t a Slytherin…” Even if it there wasn’t anything going on, Lils had to tease Ali about something… so why couldn’t it be Sirius?
The tidings that Remus brought were not entirely new to James, since he had also been reading the prophet - he'd shown several articles to Sirius over the summer, but he didn't know if the boy had read them or not. At first, the Potters had taken the view of many of the wizarding community, that this Voldemort was nothing to worry about - some young hooligan making a lot of noise to get attention or an invention of the press.....but over time they'd come to realise that this was no cry for attention, nor was it made up...this Voldemort meant business.
However, the fact that Remus also brought up the werewolves made James glance sharply at the boy - was he trying to agrivate Sirius, or simply stating the facts? Caught up in the discussion, James didn't hear Lily's comments (thankfully...poor boy) He did however become distracted by a loud laugh from fellow Gryffindor, Ali.
Ali
Losing the 'innocent' look, Ali smiled sympathetically at Lils "I don't understand it either myself Lils...but, you have to admit that he has changed a bit...last year, after that big fall out the boys had. He kind of, well...became more responsible. I think."
She then let out a loud laugh as Lily thought to tease her about Sirius. As with most girls, Ali had had a crush on Sirius for a while...until she got to know him. He was alright - funny, daring, charming...but his track record with girls was appaling, and Ali was rather disgusted at the boys smarmyness. Not to mention the fact that he was #always# trying to get laid, with just about any girl he met. She stopped laughing as people gave her blank looks and glares, instead she grinned sheepishly before answering Lily "You've got to be kidding - I spoke to him as he sauntered past the compartment, but thats about all hun...unlike you and lover-boy, who spent alllll the journey together." she flashed Lily a grin. James was always the trump card, the one thing that she could bring up that would annoy Lily the most...of course, Lily should also know that Ali was only teasing, in a friendly way. She then paused and her grin widened as she dropped her voice a little "Or, did you ditch James to spend time with the other prefects? Maybe...one Remus Lupin?" she chuckled "Or is Mr Malfoy more your thing?" she winked conspiritedly - as with most girls, they teased each other about potential 'crushes', and Lucius Malfoy was a long running joke between them...no Gryffindor in their right mind would ever fancy that smarmy, arrogant git.

Re: 1st September, 19:00 - Feast Time! (Gryffindor Table)
(OOC: awww…. Poor Dru~ey! I know what you mean, I don’t like Lils talking bad about James either, but she can’t like him now! Besides, if he’d been listening, she wouldn’t have used those precise words - Onto posting….)
Lily
Happy about finally releasing her emotions on the train ride, Lily was more passive now. She sighed, looking past the Gryffindor table towards the other House tables, recognizing familiar faces. “I suppose you’re right, or actually I know you’re right.” Pausing to study James and his friends again, they seemed to be having a serious conversation at the moment, instead of horse-playing or jinxing people like she thought they would. “He really is the glue that holds that group together, for without him I don’t know if it would still exist.”
She really did wonder how the four of them actually met and became friends that first year many years ago, for each individual boy was rather different from the others in the group. Sirius was obviously the ladies man, Remus was the shy gentlemanly one, and James was just … well James. All of them were quite popular with everyone, including the teachers, even if they did cause mayhem every few days, and none of them had trouble in getting dates to anything. Lily really didn’t know how Peter fit inside their posse, as she had never really heard him speak before, or at least he never spoke around her. Perhaps there was a certain something that the others saw in him, for the four had always stuck by one another, even when things got really bad.

At Ali’s laughter, Lily couldn’t help but glow as most of the Gryffindors were wondering what was going on. If there was one person who could make her laugh the most, it was definitely Als. When she mentioned James again, Lily wasn’t upset as she was quite used to it. After all it had been a very long time since the annoyance of James Potter had entered her life. When Malfoy’s name was mentioned, Lily burst into giggles, for even the thought of Lucius and Lily was ridiculous. “Oh yeah, you know Lucius and I have something going on!” Grinning mischievously her eyes narrowed as she attempted her sexiest sultriest voice. “What did you think I was doing on the train ride?”
Deciding she perhaps had gotten carried away as she had exclaimed that statement a little too loud, Lils lowered her voice. “Honestly, I think you and that Avery guy would be absolutely peachy together.” As both of them were Muggle-born, even the thought of dating a pure-blood Slytherin was unheard of. Lily had had a lot of trouble in the past with this difference of blood between students. When she was younger many times she had felt as if she always had to prove herself, and there still was a little bit of her that kept telling her she was inadequate. Her self-esteem was better now, but she still loathed that word… the word that the older Slytherins had called her when she was a first year - she couldn’t even say it now.
Re: 1st September, 19:00 - Feast Time! (Gryffindor Table)
(ooc: *hearts Blue* ... I loveee your Lily posts. They're perfect ... disapproving, but she still has a sense of humour hehe.)
Sirius
Sirius was still looking bored, and didn't like that no attention was focused upon him. Lily and Ali seemed to hold most of the attention at the table .. that just wasn't right. The Marauders were supposed to be the centre of the table, around which all talk, chat, flirting, pranking usually centred. The mood was different tonight. James seemed like normal, but Remus was pissed at him, and Peter too seemingly. Sirius was highly tempted to hex them both, but he knew it would just widen the gulf between the boys. After it just being him and James all summer, he was reluctant to 'share' attention with the grumpy Remus and Peter.
He glanced around the room. Maybe a prank on the Slytherins could bring them all together in shared laughter. However, there was no point starting now, the first years were filing in for their Sorting.
Despite his bad mood, Sirius always liked the Sorting. Trying to decide whether the new batch of Gryffindors were up to the job was always fun. The boys often tried to second-guess the Hat before it announced the house, and although they were wrong a lot of the time, it was still just another bit of silly fun.

Re: 1st September, 19:00 - Feast Time! (Gryffindor Table)
(ooc: *grins* yup - Blue rocks ^_^ heh heh...and now i get to have poor jamesie having a minor heart attack :P)
James
Lily and Ali seemed to be teasing each other - rather loudly, James rolled his eyes at the noisey girls and opened his mouth, trying to get the conversation between his friends going again....but a giggle stopped his voice in his throat. His eyes locked onto Lily, who looked absolutely adorable when she was laughing. Her sweet voice floated across the table and James's eyes widened in horror as she declared there was something going on between her and Malfoy. NO!!! NOT POSSIBLE!!!
James's lips moved but no sound came out - his brain was still trying to process what she'd just said when her tone turned sultry and she made a suggestive comment about what she'd been getting up to on the train. Poor James simply stared at her, wide eyed and open mouthed...his heart was doing double-time as his feelings for Lily soared. Did she have any idea of just how sexy she was??? He longed to hear her use that voice with him...of course, it was an empty hope. She hated him, didn't she? And she was going out with....no...wait. His brain finally caught up and he blushed, closing his mouth. She had been messing around, There was no way in hell that Lily would go near Lucius!
James looked away, his cheeks still slightly red with embaressment - he hoped the others hadn't noticed. Glancing around, he saw Sirius was watching the door, and so he turned his attention there - the firsties were filing in. James smiled - they looked so small and scared...was he ever that small? He remembered his sorting vividly - he'd been so excited on the train, chatting away and speculating with others just how you got sorted...but when it came down to it, James had been just as nervous as anyone else...
A hush fell over the crowd of students, and James stopped reminiscing in time for their little game. He flashed his friends a grin as Professor McGonagall announced the start of the sorting, then explained the procedure....finally the first kid was called up to the sorting hat. 'Abbot, Rowena' was a short and slightly chunky little girl with a shy round face hidden by long blonde hair. "Huffler" whisper James confidently. Across the table Peter gave a nod of agreement.
Ali
Ali grinned mischiviously as Lily 'confessed' her love of that rat Malfoy...then she pouted playfully as Lily decided that there was something between Avery and Ali. "But Liiiiil's...no one's supposed to know about that!" she said in hushed tones, with a slightly secretive look...she held for about 10 seconds before she started giggling softly. Ah, it was great to be back at Hogwarts. She loved her home and family, but it was here that she felt that she could be completely herself.
She would have said more, but the sorting began and so she turned her attention to the front of the hall, and the crowd of small kids huddled together as if the sorting hat was going to bite their heads off. Of course, she'd been just as bad when she was being sorted - the older students had been scaring her group with tales of 'The Sorting' ...they made it out to be some kind of test that involved preforming hexes to tame magical beasts. 'Abbot, Rowena' was first to be called, and the girl stumbled up to the 'stage' before sitting nervously on the three-legged stool. The shy little girl twiddled her thumbs nervously as Processor McGonagall lowered the hat onto her head.
A hush fell over the great hall as the sorting hat was revealed to determine where each student went. Lily tried to contain her laughter inside as she had to set an example as a serious Head Girl, but her eyes revealed she wanted nothing more than to be giddy for a few more seconds. Finally calming down she meekly tucked a strand of hair behind her ear and sat up straight, her eyes focused on the McGonagall.

It had taken her more than thirty minutes this morning to attempt to calm down all of the younger unsorted students, for they had heard the most ridiculous things. Honestly, would a school where you hadn’t learned anything make a new student hex a dragon? Anyone with common sense would know the answer to that question, and Lils was a tad worried about the future of Hogwarts when there were some complete airheads in the first year.
Still, the redhead could remember when she first went up to the Sorting Hat. She had been nervous and excited with a rush of adrenaline filling her veins. As the first girl went up, Rowena Abbot to be exact, Lily leaned forward to study the girl. Would she be a Gryffindor? Did she have what it took to be a Gryffindor is what Lily was really thinking, for although she loved Hogwarts as a whole, she couldn’t help but be rather partial. She turned to look at Ali to see what her best friend’s impression of the girl was. The girl seemed very nervous… almost too nervous for a Gryffindor. “I bet Hufflepuff on that one…”
Re: 1st September, 19:00 - Feast Time! (Gryffindor Table)
(ooc: Ooops ... my bad. Forgot bout this lil postiness :P.)
Sirius and Remus
Sirius hadn't noticed what was going across James' face, as he was far too busy watching the tiddlers coming in. As James whispered 'Huffler', Sirius nodded as well. 'Almost definitely' he whispered back.
Remus had just been sitting and absorbing exactly what the looks on James' face had meant .... he wasn't sure, but James definitely fancied Lily. It must have had something to do with her. His eyes kept straying across to that group himself - Ali certainly was a pretty girl. Though of course, he'd never be as blatant as Sirius or even James about showing it. He had always been careful about showing them what he was feeling about girls - he knew he could never really have a casual relationship. Wolves mate for life, and Remus felt some commitment to that Pack philosophy.
He nodded with the rest of the group, but didn't really feel an avid connection to the 'guessing game' this year. 'Just think, it's our last Sorting.' he whispered, including all three Marauders, but not even acknowledging Sirius with a look.

Re: 1st September, 19:00 - Feast Time! (Gryffindor Table)
James
The others agreed with his guess of Hufflepuff, and James smiled, glad that no one seemed to have noticed his odd behaviour. The fact that the group was still able to play their game seemed like a good sign too- although Remus reminded him that this was in fact their last Sorting. His smile turned slightly sad and he nodded, murmuring "Yeah..." he then returned to looking rather cheerful "So let's make the most of it, yeah?" he hoped it might encourage Remus and Peter to join in properly like they used to, and enjoy the time that they had left.
The Hat spent another few moments mulling over the girl, when finally it boomed out "HUFFLEPUFF!!!" - the poor girl looked shocked at this loud voice and nearly fell off the stool. McGonagall placed a hand on Rowena Abbots shoulder to steady her before lifting the hat and indicating that she should seat herself at the cheering Hufflepuff table. James grinned and clapped too - although more for the fact that he'd guessed right than for the sake of welcoming the firstie. "Yeeeah! See, i rule!" he gloated playfully as another firstie was called up.
"Arthurson, Jack" stepped up to the platform and sat calmly on the stool...he had a pale, intellectual face surrounded by short black hair. His lips were pursed and he looked nervous, despite the fact that he was acting calm. McGonagall lowered the hat once more and James let one of the others have the first guess this time.
Ali
Rowena Abbot had sat down on the stool and Ali considered the girls mannerisms to see if she could guess where the girl was going to be placed. As Lily turned to her she smiled...they'd caught the guys playing a guessing game a couple of years ago, and since the sorting was a lengthy, and occassionally boring process, the girls had joined in too.
Ali glanced back a the girl, then smiled "Looks it...but I'm thinking she might be a Gryffindor..she kinda looks like a female version of Peter." she kept her voice lowered as a teacher glanced in their direction.
It turned out that the girl was a Hufflepuff after all, and Ali poked her tongue out at Lily "Smarty-pants. I'll win the next one!" ...The next one was a boy with black hair and a calm composure. Ali cocked her head to one side slightly as she thought about it. "He looks smart, and is quite composed. He's a Ravenclaw, no doubt about it."
Aurelia hurried into the Great Hall, quite sneakily for her style as well. She managed to hastily sit herself at the Gryffindor Table with not many people noticing which was certainly a good thing in her mind. Looking quite flustered she heard fellow Gryffindors having a guessing game at which house the new first years would be sorted into.
She glanced at the boy now under the sorting hat, he looked quite composed and intellectual, most likely Ravenclaw.
Auri remembered back to her own Sorting, six years ago..Wow its been a long time..the final year...
The sorting hat had taken its time with her, she had felt sort of guilty that everyone had to wait. And in her second year she had embraced the stomach rumbling during the sorting. Gryffindor Ravenclaw Hufflepuff or Slytherin?
Aurelia would hate to be in Slytherin, Hufflepuff was alright but Ravenclaw was what she guessed...more her personality.
Yet of all the houses she was sorted into Gryffindor. Representing Courage. Yeah and I sure do have courage Auri thought sarcastically,
She gazed around, leaning her chin on her hand letting her dark hair fall over her face slightly. It was messy as usual, having had delays with her belongings, Auri had never thought of brushing her hair.
She listened to the others nearby her playing the Guessing Game, just for the sake of ending boredom deciding to do it mentally too...or even join in. Her stomach groaned. Please hu-rry up
At Ali’s comparison of the girl to Peter, Lily studied the first-year carefully, her eyes darting back and forth from her to Peter. “I still stick to my opinion, but you’re so right about their similar mannerisms. If only there wasn’t such a big age difference, they’d be perfect for one another. Peter and Pete-ette.” The girl was proclaimed as a Hufflepuff, and Lils couldn’t help but lick her finger and make an invisible point in the air. “One for Lils – ya better keep up Ali!”
The Gryffindor boys who had created the little game they were playing were reacting as well to the girl’s naming, though the only person’s voice she could hear was James, exclaiming something about how he “ruled.” Returning her glance to look at the next student she couldn’t help but mutter a statement under her breath. “Hmph - drool is more like it…”
The next boy seemed very intellectual and confident about the whole sorting process. He must have been one of the few to have common sense – he knew there was no dueling dragons or hexing creatures to become sorted. “I concur Ali…. He’s got to be a Ravenclaw…." Spotting Aurelia, Lily waved a little and loudly whispered a salutation. “Hey girl, how have you been?"
Auri waved back and sat in the seat closer to them. Her mood brightened more, remembering her little promise before leaving home. Have this year honey okay? You've been working hard..loosen up and I don't care about all the chaos you do..enjoy your final year! Aurelia's mother; Avia had told her and made her promise to have fun in her seventh year. Well I'll try my best, thought Auri and decided to start with being merry.
"Yup all well...I hear your head girl Lils congratulations!" she replied happily.
Seeing the girl beside Lily also, she smiled and added.
"How have you been Ali?" Auri asked cheerfully.
