conference play
i think that after friday night we will know more about what is gonna happen this year in the dac-10. nonconference games don't have to same intensity as conference games and don't seem to mean as much (most of the time) as for some of the questions..jamestown men are not unbeatable, umary women will not win the national title, bhsu men will not pull their heads out (i've seen them play 3 times and they are just not very good and they lose so many conference games on the road), as far as dicky women and mayville men, i don't know the answers. those are two great players to replace and i don't really remember mayvile having too many other good players besides lindgren. here is my word of wisdom before the conference even starts and you can mark my words now and I will stand beside them, both tech men and women will be GOOD this year..both teams have alot of young players playing quality minutes. both teams are very well coached and always play tough at home..i can't wait for the conference to start play!!

vikingfan...just a few messages ago you said that valley was the team to beat in the conference. Now you are saying that they are only a top 4 team. Losing confidence already and conference play hasn't even started yet. Ouch.

Supa, I agree with you that both the Tech men and women will be good. Every year I hear how bad their team is going to be and they are always competitive. And now this year they're beating good teams. As far as BHSU, I heard their post-play is non-existant and that they jacked up 10 3's before a post player touched the ball one game. Good for Kruz I hope he loses every game that cocky ____. Don't count out the UMary women. Have you watched them play? They only lost one player from last year and picked up two D-II transfers. They are 8-0 and beat some good teams already. They went down to Northwestern (top-10 team) and beat them in their gym even though they got homered. With 6:00 to play the fouls were 30-6. Yes, 30 to 6. They have all the talent in the world with Leer, Zundel and Ronderos. Hopefully Brunner's knee injury isn't serious.

Re: DAC 10
Dac-10 Outlook...
Since I am biased to BH, Ill put in a good word for them. Even though they are just 2-2 in the conference look out. They have only four players from last years rotation, and only one of them was a starter. With all of the JC's transfers it will take time for them to mesh and when they do LOOK OUT for #4 Kale Kovalski, and the Sikkink brothers are starting to play with the confedince that they had in high school.

As for the conference Jamestown is the favorite, it seems everyear they are loaded, and are very well coached. Minot is suprising me so far this early season, as well as Dickinson St. Ullin is a PTP. Look for Jamestown to take the season championship!

Black Hills doesn't scare anyone anymore. They will struggle on the road because the refs don't allow the clutching, grabbing, pushing and all that other stuff that the refs allow when they play at home. I can honestly say that the officials in the Spearfish area are the worst I have ever seen. Minot, Dicky and Jamestown will thump them twice. Mary will beat them. Tech will at least split. Even Huron, although they are struggling will cause match-up problems for them. Maybe next year they will be a force, but not this year.

guest,

That is true that we did get rocked..it was by far the ugliest game i have ever seen tech play and bhsu deserved to win. tech is stuggling their last 2 games, but i have no doubt that they will come around..

as for the womens game though, Tech was the one doing the butt kicking..we were up by 28 at one point and then coasted to a 16 point win. tech took bhsu's best player out of the game and she only got all of her points after we were up by 20..

i'm already looking forward to the rematch on january 29th..maybe you could get on here before the game this time and we'll have some good conversations..later

where you at

Dear VikingFan
Do you still want to put that top 4 finish "guarantee" on the Vikings? I just watched them play this week. They are terrible. The 2nd worst team in the league. 1-6 in conference play right now. If they finish in the top 8 and make the playoffs, I will eat my shoe. Tyrone Terry the league's MVP? What a joke. He is dogsh*t. Before I tried telling you a .500 season would be a success. Now I say if they win 5 conference games I will be amazed. Archambault hit 3 straight 3's and DeHaan just sat there and laughed because he knew they were truly outmatched. Their 2nd five started the 2nd half against Mary and played better than their first five. Please have a clue what you are talking about before posting from now on. Thanks......

To none of our surprise the mary girls have kept it rolling. They went down to black hills and sd tech this weekend and came away wiht 2 good wins. many people thaught that tech might be able to beat them their but they werent going to have any of that. Leer and Zundel continue to lead the way. Sharp shooting and rebounding have helped them to a 3 game lead in the conference. Jamestown guys took care of business too. They might have a test of thursday but i dont think mary will get out of their slump against them. if it were up to me they might get embarresed on thursday. What is up wiht them, they lost 2 easy ones this weekend . maybe they sohuld figure some things out in that program. minot and dicky are good. it will get interesting in the dac 10 the last half of the year.

you know what the problem is with the umary guys program, the coach, feeney needs to be fired, to bad mary has a @#%$ for an Athletic Director that won't fire anybody or else it would be done already. Get rid of feeney and that program will get better.

i agree, anyone out there wants that job. just like the girls. there is good tlakent but it is being wated by poor coaches. find new ones and the program will come back to life. no one wants to play for him. look at the way he treats his players. all he does is yell and scream at them. why on earth would you want to listen to that everyday. i owe it to those gys who put up with him. if it were up to me i would clean house like the girls did and look how much success they are having.

to clarify something, tothehole, mary did not clean house by getting rid of haug, haug was very respected by every girl on that team and they were very sad to see him go, he retired because he has a bad heart condition. fridley is having success with the girls program right now because haug built that program. fridley is a great coach though for those girls and he will lead them to the promised land. as for feeney, you are completely right in the fact that he needs to be fired. he is a jerk and i can't understand why the sisters would keep a guy like that around but who knows. but yes, the guys program will get better as soon as they fire feeney.

Good week for the DAC-10...
It's a pretty good week for DAC-10 basketball: Jamestown is still the unanimous #1 in NAIA-II men and Mary has taken over the top spot in NAIA-II women...PLUS, Dickinson State's Kasey Ulin is the NAIA-II men's national player of the week.

it is a well deserved award for the women to be 1 in the country. they deserve evertthing they have gotten so far. hopefully they can stay on top. jamestown wont be beaten in the conference the rest of the year. they will beat mary by more than 20. feeney is terrible and so is the rest of his staff. best of luck to the u mary women. i also will pay props when they are due. kasey ullin you deserve them. national player of the week. congrats. there will be some good games this weekend around the league.

tourney time
looks like we are at the exciting part of the season. jamestown men will when another conf. tourney. question is who is the team going to be that joins them in the national tournament. it is pretty wide open. as for the women's tourney, mary should run through it, no guarantees though considering what happened last year. if the mary women win the tourney, they should set themselves up nicely for the national championship run. now on to a new but old topic i guess. when is mary going to fire feeney as mens coach. the wheels completely fell of the bus this weekend when they did the nice 0-2 weekend. way to try and build some confidence heading into the tourney when you go and lose to dak. state of all teams. feeney needs to be let go before this program goes any further into the toilet bowl.
