Re: Did MNU go undefeated in HAAC another year?
fellas.....i confirmed the 91-92 undefeated conf season in four ways:

1. my memory....i was a senior that year at manc...rushed the court at jewell when the boys punked the cards in liberty
2. my 1992 yearbook
3. the MNU media guide
4. telephone call to a buddy who played that year and has his 12-0 conf championship ring

shknbke, i'm not sure that those 92-95 teams with Carr and Meyer had undefeated conf runs. they were good, but did not run the table.

the best chance mnu had since 91-92 to run the table was Aaron Harris' and DP's senior year when they were undefeated late in the year but lost by a few points on the road at CSC.

you remember the year. they went into branson ranked #1 and lost in the first or second round. dang...they were LOADED:

DP
Harris
Flem
Mulloy
Sears

how on god's green earth did those guys NOT get to the finals?

bk...my all time team (i'm shortchaning the guys from the late 70's/early 80's:

PG Aaron Harris
G Mark McQuillan (sp?)
G Bill Elliott
F/C Bob Henige
F Dan Peterson
F Adam Utz

honorable mention
Flem
Pete Carr
Darin Meyer
Rod Conyers
Rocky Lamar

if i had to pick six guys to run the court, i'd take:

g harris
g bill elliott
g fleming
f adam utz
f/c bob henige

Re: great
bk...i counted all post season wins and loss in my total

they won 3 or 4 games against some kcac foes and others in the nccaa tourney, then, went on to the the naia d2 tournament in idaho and beat some team from florida and then lost in the second rd to concordia, i believe.

they were like 5-1 in post season

some players on that squad:

peter martin
bill elliott
trent cole
rod underwood
greg ebben too i think

that team avged over 100 pts per game

Bhull, I am not disagreeing with the undefeated HAAC season but their own game program should have the correct record, the Little General would not stand for a mistake. It says 27-10.
A quick check of the NAIA record book says the 91-92 tournament was in Stephenville, TX, the first year of the NAIA Division II tournament, in Idaho the next season.

Bob Henige was good 24 and 12 in his one season at MNU but picking him over Martin is crazy. Martin is career scoring leader in the NAIA, at least he was before last season. He could score on anyone and not one player in the conference, not even Henige could stop him for 40 minutes, he could stop anyone either but when your 7 feet you can dominate.

What about Jason McKinney on the All MNU team? Great scorer, but not the sharpest knife in the kitchen.

Re: mnu
re: overall record
i picked up the overall record from my 92 year book

it may have been off a little, who knows

re: henige/martin
i'd take henige over martin for a few reasons:

better attitude
unselfish
much much much better rebounder
could handle/pass the ball like a point guard
soft touch from 10 feet in
knew when to kick the ball back out instead of forcing a shot

martin had better career numbers, but i liked henige better as an all around threat and team player

re: nat'l tourney location
touche' on the tourney location, i guess. my memory on tourney location back then isn't good

re: mckinney
mckinney was a stud

was it mckinney or mcquillan that broke the backboard in a practice while dunking?
