Who is your Favorite Character in the US Version?
Is it Brian.. ohh so sexy, but a heartbreaker!
Or Justin ... the adorably fiesty coming-out-with-a-torpedo in his pocket?
Or maybe Michael, the guy next door, too shy, too cute, but with a thirst for the bad boy Brian?

Just wondering... Let's get this forum MOVING!!!!!

QAF is the best "true to life" gay series I have ever seen on TV... I', 48 years old and have seen far to may "comical, drama-ridden, just accept the character as gay (US TV attitude stuff)and AIDS and suicide victims portrayed in US TV. THIS, QAF, is a major turn over! About Time!!!!

And as for those gay rights individuals who bitch about it not showing the gay community in a true light... GET OVER IT!!!! There are Good and Bad people in EVERY walk of Humanity. I thought we all would have learned this by now!

Huggers!

My favorite character is Michael. I relate to him very well. I am th eboy next door a little geeky and have to hide who I am at work. Also I think he's hilarious and he's so cute in a puppy dog way and normally.

Re: my favorite character
A Brian Kinney Fan! Wow! And I thought I one of the only people out there that really liked the character of Brian! Nice to know I am not alone.

Brian is a little bit of a devil, and I do feel bad that he does have Michael (my second favorite character) on a short leash. But I always had this "gut" feeling that Brian, deep down inside, really tand truely loves Michael. It's just that he doesn't know how, or is afraid to show how he really feels.

I was one of few people who did not like Dr. Dave punching Brian in the mouth in Episode 11. In fact, I dont care for Dr. Dave at all. I think Michael is making a big mistake with him. (ANd, look at Dr. Dave's friends at that dinner party a few weeks back... now THAT is my idea of living in Hell! Having to have dinner with those type of characters night after night... Accckkk!)

I was also a little upset with Debbie, for the first time. I almost got the impression that she wants her son and the doctor together almost in a selfish way. But, she at least was smart enough to realize what Brian did... I sort of figured out that things were leading in that direction weeks ago, and that Brian would so something drastic.

Episode 12 confirmed that Brian really does love Michael.

Can't wait until next week... now we have poor Emmet to keep our eyes on!

I know its like no Emmet don't go into the light. I didn't expect that aspect to be taken so seriously. I figured Emmet would just break his promise not go to that group and actually listen...

My favorite, without a doubt is Brian. And if only I could figure out how to get around the block my cable company has to keep me from taping off the "premium" channels I'd be happy! :)

Re: Who is your Favorite Character in the US Version?
Hahahah! Distracted...

I thought the same thing! Especially when they showed the previews for the next episode (at the time, #12). I got a kick when the speaker at the meeting said "You can CHANGE" and Emmett said "I'd start with those shoes!".

It's going to be very interesting to see how the great team of writers of QAF resolves this issue! At times I wonder if maybe they developed this story line a bit more because of Dubya in the White House, and Ashcroft, etc... as sort of a political "dig" (it would even be funnier if that *were* the case!)

As far as Brian goes; well I thought it was cool that Michael and Brian seemed to be reconciling at the end of Episode #12. I don't think Brian is as bad as some make him out to be.

Hmmm.. I have never heard of a cable company blocking out the taping of premium channels before! I have heard of it *in theory*, but have never actually known anyone who has had the problem. Have you called your cable company to find out that they ARE actually doing this? Have you tried other ways to hook up your VCR? (Apologies to the monitor... I know I went off topic there for a moment).

I hate to be the black sheep here, but...
I'd have to say that my favorite character would be Ted. He reminds me of how I see myself in the future: alone and clinging to a loveless life. He's scared of change and he's shamefully in love with one of his best friends. He is, however, an animal! We all saw how he retreated to the s&m situation last week :) I hope they bring that thread up again. *crosses her fingers*

Of course, the ensemble cast is wonderful. Brian, Michael, Emmett, Ted... all of them and MORE are wonderful, highly developed characters. I side with all of them for different reasons, it's just that Ted captures my attention most of the time. ;)

Re: Dr Dave, without a doubt
My favorite characters are Brian and Justin. They belong together. After then I'd say Emmett,Ted,Mel and Dr.Dave. I have yet to warm up to Lindsey or Michael. Michael acts more like a child then Justin does and Lindsey just has this way about her that I find very annoying. Hope some new characters surface in season 2 to add to this already great cast.

Just wanted to pop in, say hi and say that Emmett and Brian are my favorite characters. Brian for the eye candy factor and Emmett because he is just so great, honest and could probably beat anyone up who messes with his boys ;-)

Definitely Justin. He is a younger version of Matt Damon! He is incredibly cute & his character really seems to have his act together for such a young guy.

Re: Who is your Favorite Character in the US Version?
I am a straight female who just absolutly loved the show. I started watching it because of all the hype it was getting. I new that when I watched it, I wouldn't be "disturbed" like a lot of straight people I know, I am pretty open minded. Once I saw the first show I was hooked. You get so involved in the characters lives, it is exciting.
Not to mention Brian. Holy sh*t is he sexy. I close my eyes when I am with my boyfriend and think of him! (shh)
I do have a question for those of you who might know. Are any or all of the cast on the show gay in real life? I was just wondering.
See Ya!

Hiya IloveIt!
Well.. yes... I have to admit that Gale Harold (Brian)is totally sexy! :-) and (shh!) I will never tell! :->

Aa a response to your question regarding the sexuality of the cast:

I know for a fact that the characters of Emmit (Peter Paige) and Justin (Randy Harrison) are gay.. like OUT. They make no qualms about it (thank God!)... Other characters on the series like Michael, Dave, are straight. Brian (the most obvious obsession by many fans recently stated in a reputable magazine that he was straight.... but added a comment that he would never work (as an actor) for anyone who was homophobic.

Most of the writers and producers are gay.... Details are printed on this subject in mumerous op-eds in various periodicals. The Dvovocate has a complete run-doen in a recent article entitled "Queer AS Folk--- Is It Good For Gays" in its June 19 issue. (It is prolly a mag that you do not get or subscribe to... no disprespect meant!)

I must say this, however! I am so happy that people other than gay people are watching this show! It has been quite a phenomenon...

I appreciate your comments and welcome all others!

The TRUTH behind QAF is acceptance.

I am delighted this message is beginning to break through!

Re: Who is your Favorite Character in the US Version?
Hi,folks. I'm new to the board. I am totally into Mike and David. I think this is one of the most realistic portrayals of a
male pairing I've ever seen. Here is a relationship with caring,
misunderstandings,compromise,anger,laughter,forgiveness,tend
erness, learning, and love. Much like life. Oh,let us not forget,
we also have two men who are deeply attracted to each other
(that phone sex scene was AMAZING). There is so much story
in these two,not to mention the education value for those un-
aquainted with Gay male relationships. Personally I'm just happy to see a Gay man over 40 who is still sexy and vital. There are still lots of us out here. YOU GO DAVE(LOVED THE STRIPTEASE). I pray they will keep them together. I have a bad feeling about it. I'll keep watching.

Yeah!

I was a big BRIAN fan (and, don't get me wrong... still am) but, Justin has sort of stolen my heart... The character is much more complex than he appeared at first, and has a certain "nobility" about him that the other character's lack... I mean "nobility" in the sense of a "nobility of the soul". He fell in love with Brian, whereas Brian ignored him... but still... somehow this "boy" not only survives all of the arrows that the character Brian shoots at him, but in his "youthful wisdom" is giving Brian a run-for-his-money on the "know-abouts" of gay life. I LOVE IT! From the mouths of babes... etc.,

Now... that does not mean that Brian is a nasty. No. Brian has an inability to love... from fear of his upbringing. Justin is actually teaching Brian how to love! (WONDERFUL!)

On the other hand... Michael is also one of my favorite characters... to ME (and I am only expressing a sole opinion here)... Michael is never going to get Brian to love him in the way he wants to be loved. Michael sort of looks to Brian as his "caretaker"... and this is something that Brian can not relate to, and another explanation for his love for Justin (even though the rat-bastard still has yet to admit it! :-)

Perhaps it is because to Brian, Michael seems "incomplete" and Justin seems "complete"... in the sense that Justin shares a passion with Brian about just being ones-self.

I dunno!

Great to hear another opinion!

Brian Kinney!!!!
Hi everybody! I'm from Venezuela, and since I watched QAF for the first time, I can't miss one chapter..! Thank God for Direct TV! I really like the show, and all its characters... but my favorite is Brian. I love his "don't-care-at-all" attitude... but, as many of my friends, I will love to see him falling for someone. Don't care if it's Justin, Mickey... whoever. Just want to see his tender side. Take care!
