Re: creationists
"This means do they use the scientific method to arrive at their conclusion."
Watching you create problems for yourself is funny. The scientiffic method requires controlled experiments, repeated to ensure accuracy. Since evolution allegedly took place in the past and is impossible to duplicate, it's impossible to use the scientiffic method to prove evolution. You don't believe me? Go look up what the scientiffic method is.... "Not even if your right does it validate Christianity. ( which you probably are not)Christianity fails on its own merits or lack of them." I admit it doesn't, but it kills your credibility because you viciously kill Christianity but remain undecided about pro-avis, while both are equally unproven according to your standards. Again, it's just funny. "Which part of forgery, lying for the faith, lack of evidence don't you understand? Again show the evidence and I will show you why it is wrong. You will be able to counter if you have any evidence." Men don't die for something they know is a lie. Especially when the means of death is torture. "I am very confident the argument they use falls way short of being debunked." Yawn....much like your's eh? "Only an idiot claims a religion is true if you have to twist and interpret passage to fit your way of thinking." Who's twisting? No one twists that 2+2=4, but they read it as it is.

Scientists in this case can accurately date fossils ,and can accurately date the levels of soil that is unearthed. Just because there isn't an experiment going on doesn't mean that info (accurate) can't be obtained. Theists don't understand science so therefoe their brain defaults to the primitive mind of millions of years ago and say God did it. "I admit it doesn't, but it kills your credibility because you viciously kill Christianity but remain undecided about pro-avis, while both are equally unproven according to your standards. Again, it's just funny" Somehow I just can't imagine you laughing right now. "Men don't die for something they know is a lie. Especially when the means of death is torture." Maybe not. Men do and willingly die for things they believe is true. Whether it is true or not that is the question. Just go back to 9/11. These guys believed they were going to heaven and have a grand old time with a whole bunch of virgins. So your statement may be half right at best but man has been dying for beliefs as long as he has been on the planet. So if you are trying to validate Christianity based on how many people died for it that argument strikes out. "Only an idiot claims a religion is true if you have to twist and interpret passage to fit your way of thinking." 'Who's twisting? No one twists that 2+2=4, but they read it as it is." If the bible was as simple as that equation their would'nt be over 1000 differenet Christian denominations all claiming to be right. That is the nice thing about math it is either right or wrong. |

I got 91% last year in physics, and 84% in chemistry....and I know nothing about science. Give me a break man. I'm going for an engineering degree. Doesn't it just scare the crap out of you that some engineers are theists and therefore know NOTHING about science? Another reason why that statement can only be made by an ignoramus is because they fail to realize guys like Kelvin, Descartes, Newton, Pascal, etc, were all Christians. Dang, too bad they can't think at YOUR divine and holy level of an all-knowing atheist being. Personally, I'm surprised that you could make a statement that it's so obviously stupid. You're losing your credibilty here faster than a French surrender. Brent, you wanna show him the stuff on Carbon dating you showed me to prove it's not bullet proof. I trust it personally, but it can and does fail.

I think you should ask for your money back. A lot of engineers are theists, so what? I can gaurantee that none of them are developing projects in the hope that God will keep them from falling apart if they screw up.What scares the crap out of me are engineers that know nothing about science. Argument by consensus again? It doesn't matter who or how many believe. Are they're facts and evidence to support the position? Remember the whole world thought the world was flat once. Guess what? You're right, it doesn't matter, but you said Christians can't think...or can't be scientists or something like that. I simply proved you wrong again. "You're losing your sense of humor." You see being a scientist requires you get the facts straight. I didn't say Christians can't think I said they don't think when it comes to believing what is told to them on religious matters. I have also said that their are Christians that are scientists but true scientists that are Christians don' t use theology to base their hypothesis, at least if they want to be respected by their peers or unless they belong to those Christian organizations where the question becomes how do we find the equation because we have the answer already. What kind of grades do you get anyway? "You're losing your sense of humor." NUHERE "I thought it was pretty funny ^____^ " Laughing at your own jokes? How often do you do that? |

Re: creationists "You may know more about science but can you apply it? If you could you wouldn't be so confused about scientific theory." <sarcasm>No. I'm studying to be an engineer but can't apply science.</sarcasm> "You see being a scientist requires you get the facts straight. I didn't say Christians can't think I said they don't think when it comes to believing what is told to them on religious matters." So because we don't agree with the atheists it means we don't think? Do you honestly believe that I've never doubted my faith? It's the doubt that made me stronger Nuhere. My mind is set up so I question everything, and everything has to make sense to me. This caused a long period of doubt. Eventually things began falling into place for me which is why I'm where I am today. "I have also said that their are Christians that are scientists but true scientists that are Christians don' t use theology to base their hypothesis, at least if they want to be respected by their peers or unless they belong to those Christian organizations where the question becomes how do we find the equation because we have the answer already." I don't use God in science, but when I'm looking at a Ferrari I don't always stare at the engine but look at the body of the car and admire it's sexy looks. "What kind of grades do you get anyway?" I get mid 80's to low 90's consistently, and I work for every percent. That's based upon a percentage system which my province uses. The highest is 100. "Laughing at your own jokes? How often do you do that?" Depends on the joke. If it's an impulsive spur of the moment thing sometimes I laugh after I realize what I said. This particular line I punked from a video card review. I find it amusing so I use it every now and then.

The evidence belongs to everyone, (or lack of it) .Atheist don't have a lock on this info. Just because atheists put it on the web etc doesn't mean they made it up. Prove it wrong. Look at the arguements that are made for no beliefs and then look at how apologists will counter. They will use the arguement of "who believes or believed, how many believed, people willingly died for their beliefs, they will often insist on using the bible for proof when even it is suspece. We don't know who wrote it , or how accurate it is and often contains errors and contradicitions. All of these are weak and often mistaken reasons to believe. "I don't use God in science, but when I'm looking at a Ferrari I don't always stare at the engine but look at the body of the car and admire it's sexy looks." I never could figure out why guys (girls) would stare at an engine. |

Accept that it is there and get in and drive. That is a lot like the universe. Its there, enjoy it and don't worry about how it got there. Tell me when you drive your car and that warning light comes on saying " check engine" do you actually get out and open the hood and determine if it is still there? |

"Yea but why stare at? Accept that it is there and get in and drive. That is a lot like the universe. Its there, enjoy it and don't worry about how it got there."
Well, because I think it's important to understand where we came from. If one doesn't understand where they came from than they will never find out who they are. Sure, we can enjoy it, but why not try and figure out how it got there? Curiosity is a thirst that man will never satisfy. "Tell me when you drive your car and that warning light comes on saying " check engine" do you actually get out and open the hood and determine if it is still there? " There is no "check engine" light in my car. There are lights such as "low oil" or "low fuel", but no "check engine" that I'm aware of....

creationists Red -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "I thought the Christian knew where they came from." NU "And how did they figure it out? Obviously by analysis and their own deduction." Not really. Obviously by their own imagination is more like it. When one is born they are born faithless. Their is no reason to develop a faith based on ones experience. Only when the imagination kicks in and story telling begins does one think he knows more than he does. Its like flying an airplane in the clouds. What is the one rule that pilots are taught while in this situation? Trust your instruments not your feelings. To the pilot he may feel he is flying level while at the same time heading for the ground. It is the same for religion. Their is nothing out there even though your imagination tells you otherwise. Their is no evidence to change the reality. Since you cannot show anyone else what you see, or feel, and have no physical evidence to speak of one can safely conclude that again God is all in your head. |

I agree that mans imagination has created wonderfull inventions. However I think your response also backs up my premise that it was mans imagination that created God. |

I am attacking the stories that his mind has invented and passes on as real. I think it is wrong to teach people that that they are inherantly evil and full of sin. I think it is wrong to teach people they must be saved because of it and I think it is hypocritical to teach people that there is a loving God that will put you in hell forever and ever for not believing or not worshipping. This is ancient superstition at its best. |
