i think you misunderstnad me
I dont dispute god as i do believe in him and worship him, I just in all honesty that the bible is a good guide but that is all, so to say something cannot be because the bible says so is wrong. Simply put I agree with the general meaning but not the exact text of the bible as it has been changed so many times, and rewritten, you just dont know what the original meaning was. So I dont question your faith as it is an very important thing, but question the need to ignore other facts because of a statemtent in the bible. Example evolution.

Re: ... Ok, well, from what I can Tell all of the stuff SirNukes posted was facts, facts againest evolution, and yet you refuse to accept them?? Who is blind now?(BTW I didn't notice any of those facts, being proved because the Bible said so, but being proved my Science and Math.) |

interesting... Interesting posts, SirNukes. A few observations... He spent perhaps 2 to 3 pages attempting to discredit carbon dating. He does bring up some good points, but every single one of his initial observations would also take pages and pages to critique. Each time one makes an assertion, it requires support. I propose that the burden of proof is *also* on him, to support each one of his claims... although he would manipulate you into believing that he is above this burden by the mere shotgunning of a few dozen unsupported observations. His burden is equal with that of someone who would assert that the earth is 4 billion years old. Since 100% of his claims are in doubt, and none of them is 100% provable, he has--in the end--"proven" nothing at all. His was an excercise of creating doubt--which is GREAT! Science welcomes dissent. The history of the earth is still largely unsolved. However, I sincerely doubt that the entire scientific community engages in the distortion of the facts to suit their theories. In religion, such things are common. Science, however, thrives on dissent to a much greater degree. In religion, when you say "the earth isn't flat" they torture you and hang you, or at best cry "heathen!". In science, when you say "the earth isn't flat" they say "interesting theory, let's see your evidence." In science, the fact that they point out "right now we believe" or "we think" or "in theory" is what makes it superior to religion. Why? because all of these "beliefs" are flexible, able to change should evidence suggest they were wrong. Religion cannot do this, because faith is faith. "Truth" is Truth to the religionist. In my opinion, faith merely means "I've made up my mind, so don't confuse me with any new information." It should be pointed out that the author of the above claims is engaging in science, not religion. At least, until he begins quoting the Bible. Any "evidence" of the earth's beginnings taken from within the Bible must be treated with great hesitation. Stories of events for which the only evidence is the stories themselves are virtually useless. At best, they offer a fun place to start when trying to figure out how old the world is. And, that is what this author appears to be doing. Anyway, despite my various observations above, I do believe he has some interesting things to say. I'll have to do some research... |

Re: Something that is going to make me stronger Actually from most of the "scientific" discussions I've had, if I say something that doesn't go along with what general consensus is, even if I have some form of proof, I tend to feel like I'm at risk for getting tortured until I agree with what everyone else thinks... |
