"So do all who live to see such times, but that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us. There are other forces at work in this world Frodo besides the will of evil. Bilbo was meant to find the Ring, in which case you also were meant to have it. And that is an encouraging thought."
"Legolas....I am...so sorry." She whispered. "This is all my fault...you pushed so hard. You neglected yourself for me!" She said sadly, hating herself. "I never should have let you do this." She whispered. Standing, wobbling a bit, Anoron leaned over, so her lips were near his ear. No longer the familiar warmth radiating from his body.
"Now is the time to confess...my heart is yours. I love you Legolas....I have since we met....your beauty and comforting words were a guiding light to me. Were it not for you, I would have perished long ago." She whispered, gently placing a soft kiss upon his cheek. "I am in love with you, Princeling....." She said, closing her eyes briefly, before looking to him. "Legolas?....Can you hear me?" She asked sadly, choking back a sob. But there was no response.
Leaning down, she kissed his cold lips briefly, and touched his hand, before standing up and backing away. Anoron herself almost collapsed, but the other elf caught her, and picked her back up....carrying her out of the room. Anoron began to cry, as the elf tried to comfort her. They were doing all they could, but Legolas wasn't responding. She was taken back to her room - and more weeks passed, without any word of her love. The elf would not take her back, for fear of getting caught and scolded.
Even though he did not respond, the elf did hear her. In the vast sea of darkness, he did hear her sweet voice and her words. She loved him? Legolas began to wonder if she really did, or if it was a trick of the healers. For weeks more he laid there, motionless. They had all nearly given up on the prince’s recovery, not knowing about Anoron’s trip down to see him. He was still deathly pale and his skin cold, at least, still cold from before. The nurse came in to check on the prince, her blue eyes looking down at him sadly. Suddenly her eyes widen and she gasp. Quickly she ran out of the room as fast as she could. “My Lord!!! She cried, running into the healer’s office. “The prince is waking! His fingers moved!” She yelled.
The elf that had been escorting Anoron around heard the news and smiled. He had a feeling that she had something to do with his waking. Knocking on her chamber door softly, he opened and walked it. “My lady,” He said, a smile on his face. “He is waking! Come, I will take you there to him before the others reach him. We must be quick.” If the prince was waking, he would need the person that had brought him from the darkness by his side. Taking her hand, the elf helped her down the stairs and to the room where the prince was resting.
Meanwhile, Legolas took a deep breath. Lips parted and for the first time in weeks, he spoke. “Anoron...” He whispered, his throat dry and voice weak. However, no one was around to hear his call to the one he loved.

Meanwhile, Legolas took a deep breath. Lips parted and for the first time in weeks, he spoke. “Anoron...” He whispered, his throat dry and voice weak. However, no one was around to hear his call to the one he loved.
As Anoron and the other elf entered the room, he allowed Anoron to go up to Legolas. Her eyes were welled at the sight of him as she leaned in close. "Legolas?..." She asked softly; her hand stroking the top of his head soothingly. "Legolas....love...." Anoron whispered, not wanting to be too loud or disturb him. "Please, come back to me...." She said, placing a soft kiss upon his forehead. She heard a moan from his throat, and watched him hopefully, but nothing else happened. He gave a few parched breaths...almost as if he were trying to speak.
"My lady, we don't have any time left, we must go," The elf warned, watching the hallway nervously.
Turning back to look at Legolas, Anoron sighed, pressing another soft kiss to his lips. "Legolas." She said softly...before backing up, and being helped out of the room by the other elf. Yet as they left, they didn't see Legolas' eyes open. The other healers arrived, just as Anoron and the elf rounded the corner and disappeared.
Walking into Legolas' room, they sighed and smiled in relief to see his blue eyes open. "My lord, it is good to see you awake, we've been deathly worried for your condition." The main healer said with a nod.
Anoron was taken back to her room, and left by the elf. She moved to her bed, and laid down gently, beginning to cry. Why? She wanted Legolas awake, and well, and she wanted to be able to hold him. She wanted to know....if he loved her. She'd told him, yet she didn't know if he heard her. Even if he did hear her....Anoron didn't know if he felt the same, or perhaps only saw her as a deep friend, or daughter. After all, he was centuries old. What would he see within her? Why would he want to go through the troubles of his immortality, or the ability to sail, or the fact he now had elves to lead and rule over.
The ranger cried alone, on her side, as she'd done many nights within the tent she and Legolas shared. Only this time, he would not be curling up behind her, whispering sweet elven words.
More weeks passed....and Anoron simply recieved word on Legolas' condition from her elven friend; who's name she found out to be Merliae. He was nice elf, young for his age in their times, but nice none the less and caring. He took Anoron on walks, and began to help her rebuild her strength; getting her to train; swordplay, archery and combat. Anything to get her active, and to keep her muslces warmed up. Since they'd only had labour, she'd lost much muscle mass.....as had everyone. Building it up again was key.
Especially since the winter month was upon them. It was already getting colder. The elves had been discussing moving back to Imladris - but none would leave without their Mirkwood prince. So it was, on the first eve....there was a snowfall. Light, calm, beautiful; large flakes falling from the sky. Anoron wasn't sleeping, she was watching the snow fall, and realized, she wanted to be with Legolas. Creeping out of her room....she snuck downstairs, to the west wing, and into his room.
They'd given him another room, since he was on the mend. Looking over, she didn't see him awake, but that didn't matter. She just wanted to be beside him. Anoron slowly creeped over, and slid up beside Legolas; he under the covers, and she above them. Anoron leaned in close, inhaing his familiar scent and allowing her eyes to drift over his face. He was so fair; some of the color had come back to his skin. And he wasn't so cold. A sigh escaped her lips, as she rested down alongside him; her head resting on his torso gently....as her eyes drew to the window, and watched the snowfall. It had almost a blue glow outside, with the pure white snowflakes. Silent. Beautiful.

Legolas was asleep. They had pumped him with so much tea ad other medication, all he could do was sleep. Ever since he had woke, they never let him walk. For nearly a month he had not been able to stand or walk. It was depressing. All he wanted to do was see Anoron. Several times had he voiced his need to see the girl Anoron, but they did not allow it, saying something of it slowing his recover. His legs felt like lead, dead almost. His eyes were closed, even as the door was opened. Yes, he had heard the door open, but he thought that it was another nurse coming to check upon him. Not wanting to deal with more medication, he simply laid there as if asleep, hoping the nurse would get the idea.
However, he mental frowned as he felt a warm body crawl upon his bed and hover over him a bit, before resting their head on his torso. That was when he opened his blue eyes, wanting to see who was so bold to visit him just to use him as a pillow. Anoron. Tears instantly began to form and glaze over his eyes. It was her. Was this all a dream? The elf surely hoped not. For a moment he laid there, watching her gaze out the window, unaware that he was awake now. “Here..is a face that I have longed to see...” He whispered, a smiling forming on his face. His hand gently pressed against her back stroking it smoothly, missing the warmth of another body near is. “Anoron...how I missed you..” All he wanted was to see her, and here she was.

Anoron closed her eyes more tightly, giving a small whimper, and hoping that this was real. He was awake; his touch felt warm and familiar. “Anoron...how I missed you..” All he wanted was to see her, and here she was. Looking up, Anoron turned, and found herself staring into the tired eyes of Legolas. A small smile crept onto her lips.
"Legolas," She whispered, reaching a hand up to touch his face gently. Leaning down, she embraced him by resting her head upon his chest, not wanting to exhert anything too quickly onto the elf. "I have longed to see you again....I am so sorry....'tis my fault you were exhausted. 'Tis my fault." She said, trying not to cry. I she had been insistant that he didn't care for her so much, and neglect himself - Legolas wouldn't be here.
Her green eyes, welled with tears, looked outside again at the gently falling snow, and she closed her eyes. Legolas' skin was as soft as snow...she remembered the time she'd kissed him - thinking herself dead within a day. Anoron still thought about it, and remembered his taste. "The elves are leaving soon....with you as their leader." She whispered, wondering if he knew. "They plan to return to Imladris....and use Elrond's abandoned halls....they believe Mirkwood to be a lost cause." She said softly. It was hard to imagine Mirkwood as being overrun, but it was true. when Sauron had won, he'd burned some of the woods. Mirkwood was one of them, and only Dol Guldor was left now. At least, that part of the dark wood.
Rivendell seemed the only option. Anoron let out a small sigh, knowing Legolas had to go. He was their leader now, a formal presence for the elves who hadn't chosen to sail. Anoron knew their paths would seperate should Good win. "I am glad you are alright...." She whispered, closing her eyes. Anoron placed a soft kiss on his clothed chest. "And I shall miss thee." She said.
Re: Endless"Legolas, I have longed to see you again....I am so sorry....'tis my fault you were exhausted. 'Tis my fault."
Legolas shook his head. It was not her fault at all. Had he not taken care of her, who knew where they both would be. Legolas would be lamenting her death and she would not be here. Legolas wanted her here with him, he needed her now. He was so use to her presence and loving it, he neglected what his body told him. It was nothing of her doing. “Shhh...No...no Anoron..” He whispered, stroking the back of her head. “It is not your fault I was exhausted...but it is your fault that I am breathing and gazing at you now..” And at that, the elf smiled a bit. “It was your voice I followed...no one else. The voice that I have long since held so dear.” It was the truth. Her voice had been his guidance back to life. If she had not called upon him, then the elf would let go.
"The elves are leaving soon....with you as their leader." She whispered, wondering if he knew. He frowned a bit at her words. Legolas had not heard this information, it was new to him. Very new. But that did not matter. What did matter was the fact that she was already saying her good-byes. “I am not leaving yet, Anoron..” He said, a bit hurt. Had she not meant her words from before. Legolas gazed down at her, still rubbing her back fondly. “You will not leave me...would you?..” She had claimed to love him, but did she really, or was it a simple try to make him wake up? He did not know for sure, but the elf hoped that she was not lying. That would break his heart, and it was a wicked thing to do, lead him on like that. “..I...I love you...would you leave the one you claim to have loved..?” He would worry about going to Imladris later. He could not even walk yet, what made them think that he would go soon anyways?

Anoron looked to him sadly. "Legolas I would never leave your side willingly," She said softly, hurt he would think her so careless. It was not her wishes that they were seperated for these weeks. It was by the will of the healers.
“..I....I love you...would you leave the one you claim to have loved..?”" He asked.
She winced a bit. "My claim of love is true, despite what you think.....I would not leave by my choice, as I have said." She said sadly, figuring he might doubt it. After all, she was but a mortal, capable of lying, deciet, and weakness. Anoron sat up and looked down to Legolas. She wondered if this would work...or if he saw her as merely a girl with a crush. Perhaps she was, but it didn't feel like that. Anoron loved him, she had since they met.
"Your people wish to move....before the snow falls get too large." She explained, her green eyes drawing down, glancing to the falling snow outside. "They do not wish to be stayed in Osgiliath. If you cannot walk within the week...they shall transport you out." She said, looking back to him. "They want to spend their free lives in Rivendell....not here with men." She said.
Re: Endless"My claim of love is true, despite what you think.....I would not leave by my choice, as I have said."
Legolas smiled a bit. At least her intentions were true and she was not put up to it by the healers. They seemed to edgy around him, and it was getting on his nerves. He hated all of this attention. They continued to give him so much medication, teas, and sleeping potions that he was about to go insane. The next thing he had to drink that was suppose to help him would be thrown right back at them. All he needed was time, the chance to get out of bed, and Anoron. Was that too hard to ask for? Apparently it was, for the healers were so bent on their cures that they neglected to see just what the elf really needed.
"Your people wish to move....before the snow falls get too large. They do not wish to be stayed in Osgiliath. If you cannot walk within the week...they shall transport you out. They want to spend their free lives in Rivendell....not here with men." “Over my dead body.” He retorted quickly about him being transported. How did they expect him to walk in a week if they kept him in bed? It was all their play to get him to go without any excuse to not go with them. It was a dirty way of getting what they wanted, but not all elves were kind and giving. Legolas sighed and shook his head. “If they are so eager to go, they can go. I am not in a hurry to be away from this. I just want to be with nature, outside...and with you.” Gazing up at her, he smiled a bit. “Come with me to Rivendell. We can be together there, you and I. We only have to wait until they sail. I fear that is why they are so eager to go to Rivendell, just to go to the Grey Havens and sail away..” The elf looked down a bit, then out the window into the snow.
“I do not want to sail...I like it here...this place is beautiful in its own way. Yes, Middle Earth is for men...but one elf would not make a difference...” Turning back to her, Legolas sat up carefully, using his arms to push himself up and leaned against the headboard. He reached for her hands and pulled her closer to him. The elf pulled he to sit in his lap. She wasn’t hurting him, he could not feel his legs right now anyways. Being bedridden has its effects on him. It would take some time for him to adjust, longer than a weak, that wad for sure. “We can remain in Imladris...just you, and I...it is a beautiful place...”

"Legolas...." She said softly, meaning to protest, but the look in his blue eyes was enough to melt even the coldest heart. A look of determination; of finding a way, or warmth, of comfort. The same look she'd seen when he would tell her to be strong. To keep hope. Reaching her hand up, she cupped his cheek gently, running over the soft skin with her thumb. "Do you love me so much as to disregard your people?...." She asked quietly. It seemed like such a big decision. Going with his people when they sail, or staying in Middle Earth....for one person? Enduring the hardships, the changing seasons. Leaning in, she nestled her nose against his own. "I do not want you to give up anything for me." She whispered.
She couldn't even bare to think about Legolas dying, or being stuck with her. What if he realized he didn't love her?....
Re: Endless"Do you love me so much as to disregard your people?....I do not want you to give up anything for me."
Legolas simply smiled, yet looked upon her in all seriousness. Legolas was told to follow his heart and listen to his mind. Well, now he was following his hear and using his mind to help him. The elf loved her. He was in love, race did not matter. If this feeling he had was everlasting, then a mortal’s life was not a consequence at all. Often, Legolas wondered what it would be like to know that one day death’s bells would chime overhead and take the soul into an everlasting peace. What would it be like? His mind was already made up, for there was not much thought that was needed. “It is my choice to live or die, Anoron. Just as it is my choice to choose how I would die.” Said he, his arms wrapping around her waist and draping there lightly. His face leaned into her warm touch. A touch that he loved. “I love you so much to stay here with you. My people would understand, for if they were in love with a mortal, what makes you think that would not do the same, inwardly?” He knew that others would do the same if they were truly in love.
It was a risk, but such was love. True love did not have to make sense and it was a risk. That was how he knew that it was true love and not some wild infatuation. Legolas had grown use to her warm body beside his. She was a struggling soul, and Legolas wanted be there to pick her up when she fell. He wanted to love her, and be loved in return. It had been centuries since he ever loved another. This love was a welcome comfort that one she could give him, no one else had that power. “For you I would go to the stars.” Said he, raising a hand and stroking her soft cheek gently. “It is a choice that we all must make...to leave or stay. I choose to stay here, for I have a reason to stay...and that reason is you. I would rather be here and die with you, than sail across those lonely shores knowing that my heart was here...and be miserable forever.”
Smiling a bit, he kissed her lightly on the lips, before pulling back and glancing out the window. “Besides, how often do elves get to see snow?” Legolas chuckled, trying to ease her worries and lighten the mood.

Anoron gave a slight smile, her eyes dropping to his soft lips - he'd given her a small one, but she wanted more. Leaning in, she kissed Legolas much more deeply, wanting to taste the elf as she'd done in their tent....though that was of sadness and need of comfort....this was just for pleasure and love. Now, she had time to drink in his taste and feel -- so incredibly soft, hinting of mint, spring rain, and a summer morning. All which Anoron deemed extremely pleasing.
Pulling back, she looked into Legolas' eyes, searching for any kind of disapporval. There was none. Slowly, she nestled her nose against Legolas'....before slowly climbing off the bed. "I should go...Fionas is waiting outside....to help me back to the room before day break." She whispered, sliding off his lap and standing wobbily beside his bed. Leaning in, she kissed him briefly again, her eyes trailing over him longingly. "I shall try to come back and see you again." She said.
Anoron hoped it would be soon. She knew the elves were wanting to leave - it was beginning to come about winter ALL over Middle Earth. Even in Rivendell. At least in Rivendell, they would be at home beneath the snowy trees and atmosphere. She knew they didn't want to stay for a winter of men. But if they made Legolas go, she too, would leave. She would do what she had to, but she would follow Legolas and the elves, even if it meant doing it secretly and following behind them.

Leaning in, she kissed him briefly again, her eyes trailing over him longingly. "I shall try to come back and see you again." She said.
Legolas slowly opened his eyes from the kiss and stared at her, awe-stricken by her beauty and her kiss. Blue eyes watched her go sadly, wishing that she could stay with him tonight. At least one thing was certain: she loved him and he loved her. With a small smile on his face, the elf watched the woman slowly disappear out the door and back to her room. Legolas tried to move his legs, in hopes of following her. Nothing. Growling in frustration, he leaned back into the pillows and stared up into the ceiling. His eyelids began to grow heavy with sleep. For a while, he tried to fight sleep, wanting to stay awake should Anoron return. However, a voice from within told him that it would not happen.
“Do you think that I am fit enough to walk?! You continue to put medication in me that makes me drowsy, yet you expect me to walk now?!” Legolas shouted, growing angry at the elf’s instance that they head out for Rivendell. A week had gone by, and Legolas tried to stand and walk. Without support or aid, he would fall to the ground. His legs felt like heavy stones. A sigh escaped his lips. “How is it...that I became the sudden leader? I am a prince...but that does not make me a lord or anything in another city.” He said on a sadder note. Legolas had no problem staying here among men. However, he knew that he could not abandon his people.
"You are our prince, the last of them among Middle Earth. We need a leader...we all have choosen you..my lord."
Silently, he nodded. They would have to leave soon if there was any chance of them going. Unfortunately, hey would have to transport him there because he could not walk fully yet. “Send Anoron for me...if I am to go, I want her by my side. If there is anyone that I know will want to go, it would be her. She goes with us, we leave not without her.”
The messenger elf rolled his eyes. “She belongs here, Legolas.”
“She belongs where she wills. Now go get her, I would like to speak to her.” Legolas snapped.

Slowly, the elf nodded and left - seeking out Anoron. She was in the back courtyard, sparring with Fionas, who was helping her rebuild her strength. Once the elf told her Legolas desired to see her, Anoron excused herself, and went up to the Infirmary Room Legolas kept to. Smiling, her eyes rested on her blonde elf prince and she walked over to his bed, sitting down on the edge of it. "How are you, Princeling?....Fairing well, I hope." She asked, tilting her head a bit - her green eyes were beginning to become a much brighter color, even sparkling with some of her youth mirth. Youth, even though she was at least 50 years of age.

Legolas smiled, glad to see a warm and friendly face once more. “Anoron..” He whispered, just the sight of her made him feel better already. “I am better than I was...though I cannot walk properly yet..I will soon, I can feel the strength coming back to them.” The color in his face had returned to the light and pale olive hue and his eyes were once again that brilliant blue. Sitting up more, Legolas took her hand in his and kissed the top of it. “And what of you? Are you well, my dear?” The elf was concerned for her. She looked better than she had, but not all wounds stopped beyond the body. His thumb rubbed her hand as he stared at her. How could he tell her that they would be leaving soon?
