Re: The Path Home (cont.)
The soldiers stopped and looked back to Thranduil, wondering what it was they were supposed to do if Legolas would not let them touch Anorista. Thranduil motioned for them to back away, and slowly approached his son.

Kneeling down behind him, he placed both hands on Legolas' shoulders. I did not do this Legolas. Never would I think of taking her life. I am not glad she is gone....for this pain in you, is paining me also.

He gently stroked his son's hair.

--------------

Anorista began to cry. This was too hard of a decision.

Wonering what would happen, she took both their hands.

But both Legolas and the being of light, tossed her hands aside.

Again, they extended their hands to her.

She knew she could only choose one.

"You caused just as much pain for me as you did before! You would not let me be happy! I was never happy until I found her...until I wedded her." He felt Thranduil's strong hands on his shoulders. Sighing and tried to control his sobs and tears, but came to no avil.

Legolas kissed her head as he craddled his love. He missed her touch. He needed her. His hots ran like rivers down his face, but he cared not.

Re: The Path Home (cont.)
Thranduil sighed and looked up to the soldiers. He nodded to them. The three came forward.

The king and a soldier held the prince back, while the two other soldier's removed Anorista from his grip. They carried her away from him and the burning house.

Anorista slowly reached out her hand, and grasped that of Legolas'.....

Re: The Path Home (cont.)
"No!!!" Legolas cried out as he lundged for ANorista. The King and the soldier held him back. "No!!!! Let me go!!" But they did not. Their grip was like iron. They dragged the prince, and carried Anorista far away until they reached their horses. Now, the tears flowed even more freely. Thranduil drapped his thick cloak over his son's shoulders. Legolas cried, not caring if others saw him. Thranduil helped his son onto his horse, while the others held Anorista. They made their way to the infirmary in Mirkwood.

Legolas followed behind them. As they sat her down, the healers and nurses, a bit stunned, came over and began to tend to her. Legolas refusse their help for him. He was only concerned about Anorista, for she was his savor.

Re: The Path Home (cont.)
Her smoke smelled of hair. Her right hand was burned fairly badly. Her skin was singed in some places from the flame's lick. Traces of ash were on her skin and dress.

The medics worked quickly. Legolas' presence was not helping. Halfway through they called two guards to remove him. He was literally dragged back to his chamber to wait.

Legolas thrashed about trying to get back to the healers. He wanted to be by her side. The guards stopped him though, and they dragged him back to his room. Pushing the prince in they closed it and locked it. Legolas banged on the door trying to get out, but the guards ignored him. Worried he paced to and fro scared.

Re: The Path Home (cont.)
Hours past. Soon it was evening--and the sky was darkening. The healers had done what they could for Anorista. Some servants began to lift her; wanting to give her a bath--but one healer stepped forward.

No, take her to Legolas. She said strongly. Let him bathe her...he's been through a lot. Now he waits. He only longs to see her again. She shall be safe with him.

Two servents looked to her oddly. But m'lady...

That's an order. She barked. It was the same servent who had helped them marry. The couple had been through a lot. The servants nodded and carried Anorista to Legolas' chambers.

Unlocking the door, they stepped in and laid her gently on the bed.

She needs to be washed. They instructed him. Clean off the ash on her skin. Take heed of her hand and watch her bruises. If she wakes up, that's fine. But the process has no doubt exhausted her.

With a nod, they left her.

Re: The Path Home (cont.)
As they left he dropped to his knees beside her and looked at her ahnd. "Oh Anorista..." He said sadly. Sighing, and choking back another down pour of sobs he lifted her gently and walked to the bathing quarters. Legolas laided her down gently on teh bench chair. He stripped her of her garments and tossed them across the room. He frowned deeply as the bruises reached his line of sighting. Legolas then drew her a bath. Scooping her up in his arms again he set her in the warm water and began to bath her gently. He dirt in her hair, and on her body was soon off. But his hands were the only thing clean. His face was dirty from the soot and smoke. His own hair smelled of it.

Next he washed her hair, rinsing after he was done. He sat her up in the water and looked over her bruises, and her hand.

Re: The Path Home (cont.)
Anorista's eyes slowly opened. They looked up to see Legolas' sorrowful face above her. He stopped when he saw her eyes open, and stared down at her.

She said nothing, yet weakly reached her hand up and touched his face.

Legolas smiled and kissed her hand. He sighed in relief. She was all right. She would be ok. Smiling he undressed himself and undid his hair. He got into the tub and pulled her onto his lap. He washed the smoke from his hair, and washed it off his face. The rest he left alone. He began to wash her back, careful of the bruises, and numb to teh fact that he had a rather large and ugly one himslef on his lower back.

Re: The Path Home (cont.)
Anorista closed her eyes. She was feeling so weak; helpless. Yet Legolas' touch made her spirit lift. Slowly she nuzzled back to him, resting her head on his shoulder in exhaustion and letting out a sigh.

I came to you... She mumbled weakly. Not that she expected Legolas to understand.

Re: The Path Home (cont.)
Anorista sighed. I'm so tired... She said wearily. Her tone was lifeless and dull. As if she'd been drained of complete energy and will. Please....don't leave me anymore.... Anorista managed to say. Her head drooped from side to side as she spoke; trying to stay conscious.

Re: The Path Home (cont.)
Legolas nodded and Kissed her Cheek. After he was done washing them both, Legolas lifted her up and stepped out. Grabbing a towle he dried them both off and carried her to his bed. He laid her down. Kissing her head he grabbed two sleeping tunics and slid one on. He walked back over to her and slid the other one on her. It was quite large on her, being it was his size, and she was smaller then him. Smiling he laid down Beside her and held her in his arms gently.

Re: The Path Home (cont.)
Anorista nuzzled into the comfort and warmth around her now. His sleeping tunic was large and soft; the sheets provided the same comfort--yet nothing could compare to the happiness found in his arms. Legolas reached down and pulled the blankets over them.

She couldn't help burrowing herself into the pillows and his chest. Everything was incredibly soft. She wrapped her arm around Legolas' stomach as she rested her head near his. Gently she pet his chest; letting him know she loved him still, though weak she was.

Re: The Path Home (cont.)
Legolas smiled softly and placed a gentle kiss on her forehead. One of his arms were wrapped around her shoulders, holding her close to his body; almost craddling her. But his other hand was on her waist. Now he knew she was safe in his arms. Never will he leave her alone...unless it was of dire need. Legolas sighed softly and closed his eyes. He felt so guilty about all of this...her. They went through all of this just to be together. But he could never deny his love for her. Ever.
