"So do all who live to see such times, but that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us. There are other forces at work in this world Frodo besides the will of evil. Bilbo was meant to find the Ring, in which case you also were meant to have it. And that is an encouraging thought."
"My lord...I only ask you to let us become friends first....to make it easier. Please hold off the marriage. SHe does not wish to marry..and we are becoming friends...yet she does not know it is I who she is to marry...I ask you to keep it such...not until she and I are better with each other..." Legolas looked down to the woman who laid there. He smiled fondly at her, then lifted his eyes to Cosette's father.
"Trust me...this will be better for her in the long run..." He dare not tell her father all she told him.
'Let a ploughman plough, but choose an otter for swimming, and for running light over grass and leaf, or over snow...an Elf.'
Re: Arrangement
The lord looked to the Prince, then nodded. A few days, nothing more. I want her to then meet you formally. A wedding is already being prepared. I trust you'll escort her home in the morning.
With a final small bow, the lord left, followed by his minions. Cosette sighed in her sleep, dreaming heavily about far away places. Ones she'd never been too. Most of her life she'd been confined to Mirkwood.
Re: Arrangement
Legolas sighed and sat down at her side once more. A few days...only a few days, and the marriage was already being prepared.
'Even that is not enough time to build a trust and love...'
Legolas' gazed looked to that of Cosette's sleeping form. and he smiled. He reached a hand to her and brushed away the stray lock of hair that fell in her face. So soft....He smiled. SHe was beautiful, and he could not help but think how lucky he was to be marrying her. Legolas hoped this would work out..

Re: Arrangement
As morning dawned, Cosette woke. After some coaxing from Legolas, she agreed that going back home was probably the best move for now. Yet she was still not happy about this arranged marriage.
As they reached the central city and began down the street, Cosette asked him to meet her somewhere in an hour or two. She had nothing to do anyway, and did not want to listen to her mother's nagging about where she'd been.
Plus, he was her only friend at the moment. Much better than a book -- which is what she did most of the time.
Re: Arrangement
Legolas smiled and watched her walk off. The prince took a deep sigh. She head no clue that he was her to be husband. As she left, they were to meet at the central fountain. H sat on the edge of the fountain as lhe watched the rippling water. Legolas smiled at the thought of them loving each other, if ti would happen that is. Waking up on a beautiful morning, with her beside him. A child running about the house like a wild man.
But those were dreams....simple dreams....as he waited.

Re: Arrangement
After about half an hour of listening to her mother complain, Cosette left the house again. She was forced to change into more suitable attire -- a dark green dress with sleeves that only came down to her elbows; form fitting to her upper torso and belled down from her waist.
She walked back out into the square, gather the odd look once or twice. Many thought her strange because she chose to keep her hair short, and it was dark. Most elves here had long hair and were light. It made her feel just as much out of place. More than she already did.
Upon reaching the fountain she smiled at him. Lasgalean.... She nodded. What would you like to do?
Re: Arrangement
Legolas loked her up and down, a smile upon his face. "You look lovely Costte...might we walk together? I will do anything the lady wants, as long I can accompany you.." He offered her his arm. When she took it, the two walked down the paths, and Legolas could see the supicious stares he got.
He pulled the cloak more about him to hide his face from the others.

Re: Arrangement
Cosette blushed as they walked, since she was getting more looks than usual. She wondered if it had anything to do with Lasgalen. It hit her that she didn't even really know this elf. He'd been incredibly kind to her though.
They spoke mildly and browsed through a few shops. As they came to a small weaponry shop, a bow caught her eye. Fine craftsmenship indeed. Slowly, she ran her slender fingers over the smooth bow. She wondered if she could ever learn. Archery was in an elf's blood.
Re: Arrangement
Legolas walked up behind her, and leaned close to her ear. "You fancy the bow eh? I could teach you if you wish to learn how..." Looking to teh elf, he smiled kindly, and purchased the bow and a quiver full of arrows. The prince handed them to her. "These are yourself. I want you to have them." He said to Cosette.
Legolas led her to the woods, where the best practice grounds were. He ser his stuff down, and the quiver as well. "When shooting..trhe most importan thing is faith. Believe you can." Legolas' chest was ro her back, and his arms over hers. He helped Cosette in pulling the bow back. "In sistance...aim higher then the target.." His hands over hers. To Legolas, this was all VERY arousing.

Re: Arrangement
Cosette blushed deeply. But not like she didn't blush at everything -- yet it seemed to happen more when Lasgalen was around.
He helped her aim and told her what to do and not to do. Finally, she shot. It missed target and hit another tree, but she wasn't discouraged. Cosette was pleased with herself for trying. I'd read about it so much..... She said. I'm glad your here to help me try it.
He helped her get into position again, and this time, she hit her target, though not on center. They did this for most of the afternoon; sometimes he would stand back and make her get into the position herself. She was good at remembering -- though it would take practise.
Legolas smiled and nodded. "You will do well, if you practice. It was not the easiest thing for me, and I woke with sore arms when trying for the first time. If you have strong arm muscles, then you will do well when firing a bow." The elf walked over to the targets and pulled the arrows out.
'She did better than I for the first time'
He thought, and he had to chuckle at this. Legolas returned to Cosette, and put the arros in the quiver. "Did you want to continue to try with the bow?" He asked her.

Re: ArrangementActually, She said, her eyes lighting up. Perhaps you could show me something for combat. I should know how to defend myself without a weapon -- and trying new things is amazing. She said blushing. I always read about this stuff but never have the guts or teachers to show me.
Her eyes drifted down, embarrassed. I probably sound like some foolish girl to you.... She said, a small innocent smile on her face. But I want to travel! -- Not stay at home with some husband like other girls.
Re: Arrangement
Legolas laughed and agreed. True, one DID want to learn self defense, should even their city get attacked, and she had to fight her way out. "That is very true...but your husband would obligate to you. I'm sure he loves to travel as well." Standing, Legolas walked towards her, and took Cosette's hands in his own. "First thing, when fighting without a weapon, is to stand your ground. Be loose and alert."
He helped mold her hands into fists and took her wrists. "Now you have two fighting tools. Your fists. When using them, look for weak points or openings. Here," He placed her fist on his jaw. "Here..." He placed it on the crest of his nose. "Here.." He pointed to his stomach with her fists. "And for a male I would hop you know where." Legolas chuckled and undid her fists and twined his fingers with hers.
"When you are close to some one, like this," Legolas pulled Cosette close to him.So clsoe that their bodies almost touched. "Your fist may not be the only this you can use. Sometimes you can't use them let. But when this close, either knee them in the sotach or groin, headbutt them, or step on their foot." He smiled and turned her around sto her back was to his chest.
"Now.." Legolas wrapped his arms around Cosette's waist. "What do you think you do here?" Like a child learning how to ride a bicycle.

Re: Arrangement
Cosette thought for a moment, before wrapping her leg around Legolas', and pushing back. He stumbled and both fell to the forest floor. She flipped nimbally to her feet and looked to him with satisfaction and pride. I did it!.... She smiled. Moving over to Legolas, she took his hand and began to help him up. Cosette wan't a bad sport, and wasn't one to boast when acomplishing something.
Re: Arrangement"That you did Cosette. Congradulations!" He said with a sly smile. As she reached a hand to help him up, Legolas took it, but instead of getting up, he pulled her down and she fell on him. He couldn't help but laughing. "And one most be away on ALL fronts.." He said, and their eyes locked for a brief moment. Legolas was finding it hard not to pulled her to him and kiss her.

Re: Arrangement
Cosette laughed, but upon realizing how close the two were, she blushed immensely and slid off him, standing. T-Thank you for the lesson, Lasgalen.....I believe it shall prove useful. She nodded in thanks to him and straightened out her clothing slightly.
She's never had that much contact with a male elf before. There was some feeling within her she couldn't place; Cosette had never felt it before. Desire? -- was this what it felt like? She didn't know, yet shook it off. Her mother told her feelings like that were wicked, and should be saved only for your husband.
Re: Arrangement
Legolas nodded to her and looked down. He wondered if he felt the same urge as her. Sighing, he stood as well and straightened his own clothing. "You are welcome...It was a pleasure to help you; I am sure it would be useful in the future." He smiled to her, but inside he was longing for her.
'Why can I not control this? I feel as if I will explode soon...'
And he looked to the ground again, with his hands behind his back, fiddling with them nervously. With Legolas use to being so forward and honest, it was hard not to scream to her that he was her to be husband. She was shy...and Legolas feared to frighten her, or loose the trust and comfort.

Re: Arrangement
Cosette broke the silence, giving a smile to Lasgalen. Will you show me your home?....What's it like? Small? Quiet? Peaceful? She asked.
She hated her home, more or less. Too many servents, big enough to be drafty, yet not as big as her "to-be-husband" 's. Cosette shuddered slightly at the thought of having to live in the large palace with a prince who may or may not turn out to be kind.
If I am imposing too much, forgive me. She said quicly. I was merely curious.
Re: Arrangement
Legolas chuckled nervously. He could not take her to his 'home', for his home was with his father in the palace for now. He would take her to his talan in the woods. That was safe...for now. It had enough things to live in for at least a year. Smiling, Legolas took her hand and led her into the woods.
"Certainly. I would love to take you to my home. It is not much...but it is something.." The two walked through the woods, until they came to his talan. The same talan he had built for him in secret when he was a boy. He hid here many a days from his father.
Legolas helped Cosette up the ladder, and led her into the talan. It was a one room talan, a couch in the corner, and a bed beside the window. There were rugs and blankets everywhere. He had not been here for more then 200 years.. "I'm sorry for the mess..." ANd he smiled to her nervously. How easy it would be t take her now, but no, he would wait.
He felt so guilty for decieving her....he hoped that she would understand..

Re: Arrangement
Cosette smiled. No, it's lovely. Small and cozy. Simple. She nodded to him. Looking out the window, she noticed it was getting closer to evening. Oh....it's getting later. I suppose I should be going. My father told me Thranduil had arranged a meeting of me and the Prince. Something I am not exactly looking forward too.
She sighed and began to head out of the talan. Well, hopefully I shall see you tomorrow. And I can tell you how it went.
