Re: The Bond
Legolas smiled to her and got out of bed. "Anoron..there is nothing to be ashamed of. Come now..you need not be so embarrassed with me. I'm me, after all." He joked as he neared her. Putting his hands on her shoudlers er lead her back to his bed and sat her down. Crouching down infront of Anoron, Legolas looked up at her with the same smile.

"Anoron...I know you're afraid of the storms...I won't laugh anymore, for it makes you flush more than a they sun rises." He teased her, trying to get her to lighten up a but, for he could feel her tense. "Remember when you were a child and I first met you and your brother? You were so cute then, you wlaked over to me and gave me that famous Anoron smile. I wish I could see it again.."

Re: The Bond
Anoron looked to Legolas hurtfully. The more and more she spoke with him, the more he treated her as if she were still that little girl. I'd rather not seek comfort in the company of one who never stops looking upon me as if I were a child.... She said sadly, standing and walking towards the door.

She didn't need another brother. She needed a friend. Friends didn't laught at each other when one was frightened. Friends didn't continually remind you how young you were to them, or foolish you seem by laughing. He was belittling her, and hurting Anoron. It was bad enough she was attracted to him, but this.....this behavoir just reminded her it would never come to be.

Another crack of lightning caused her to jump again, but she didn't turn around to check if Legolas was laughing or not. She couldn't bear it anymore.

Re: The Bond
Legolas stood and frowned. Concerned, he walked up behind her, and touched her shoulder. "Anoron...I did not know...I don't think you a child.." He said as he turned her to face him, his eyes serious and facial expression serious. "I know you are a woman, and that I embrace, but I try to be friends wiht you..and now this? I've tried to be both a brother and a friend...I don't want anything to happen to you.."

Lifting Anoron's chin up, he rubbed her chin. "I want you to be able to tell me things...to be able to comfort you. Tell me, what is on your mind? There must be something...some reason behind your words. Tell me..please." His voice was soft and sincere.

Re: The Bond
You know what's on my mind, Legolas....I just said it. It's like you've never stopped looking at me like I'm that little girl you first met. How do you expect me to feel more comfortable with you, when you speak down to me?! -- knowing it or not, you do.

Before she could go on, there was a knock at the door. Turning, Anoron opened it. It was Araduar. Oh, good, your here. I woke up during the storm.......you all right?

Anoron nodded, eyes drawing down. Araduar gave her a warm smile and motioned with his head; she left Legolas' room, still blushing and feeling belittled.

I apologize if she bothered you.....Anoron is terrified of thunderstorms. Always has been -- ever since our mother was killed. A horrible thing. The three of us, out riding......the storm started. We were both young and could not ride as well as mother. So she rode ahead -- and found a tree to seek refuge under. Yet as we began to trot towards it.....lightning struck. She didn't know....none of us did. When the tree burst into flames, both Anoron and I fell off our horses. Looking back, I couldn't find her. My sister wouldn't stop crying, so being older, I took her upon my horse and tired to ride back. Our father found us the next morning, sleeping beside a large boulder; our horses run off. I tried to protect her, yet I was only ten. Araduar looked down the hall to where Anoron had walked off. She has her reasons for fear. Yet to my knowledge, 'tis her only one. She could always do everything else......but when travelling, or at home......and a storm hits --- Anoron is helpless.

He looked back to Legolas and patted him on the shoulder. I'll look after her tonight. Try to get some sleep.....again, apologies if she disturbed you. I'll tell her not to seek refuge here anymore. He gave a smile and turned.

Re: The Bond
"Araduar." He said rather sternly. "You know that your sister is welcomed to seek refuge here whenever she wants. When she needs it, and when she feels she must, she is always able to come to me, regardless of what it may be. Good night.." And he closed the door and sighed. To Legolas, it seemed as if they were drifting apart..

Sighing, he crawled into the bed and as soon as his head hit the pillow, he feel into dreamless sleep, eyes partly open.

Re: The Bond
Araduar only grinned and sat himself even further into the chair. So, what exactly happened to you? he queried.

Anoron stopped wriggling on his bed and went still. She then groaned and lay back in frustration. I want to bed him, Araduar, she said almost angrily. Call it madness but I actually desired our friend! She snorted with disgust at herself. What is wrong with me? How could I even have thought of it?

Araudar studied his sister’s pained expression. Was it simply a--physical response to his
extreme nearness?
he asked at length. Because if it was, all you need do now is tumble
some willing servant. Or mayhap a strapping Elf?

Anoron shook her head. I have never felt like this with any ellon before, she said. Lustful enough to bed them, aye, but not this--this *need*.... She glanced at Araduar, her eyes dark with worry. I do not think ‘tis mere desire for just any body, muindor. I think ‘tis Legolas himself.

The older drew in a sharp breath. I have long suspected this, he bit out. Indeed, I feared it. But you always denied it, gwenneth, you claimed it was not so!

I did not know what I felt, Araduar! the she-ranger cried. I swear by all that’s holy, I did not!

Araduar insisted: You felt something before last night. I know it. I would see it in your eyes, hear it in your voice though I did not dare think on it.

Anoron shivered then nodded. I thought ‘twas just a passing fancy of mine. You know I have always thought him beautiful even by the measure of elves, but it was just that. What’s a little admiration between friends after all? She grimaced. I thought I could
control it but it seems that isn’t the case. I can no longer deny it....

But what changed? This epiphany could not have happened in an instant. What brought it about? Araduar asked.

Anoron looked to him. Just time, Araduar....that's all....

The older blew his breath out. He reached over and put an hand over his sister's comfortingly. Mayhap...mayhap you should tell Legolas about this...

Anoron snorted at the suggestion. That is the worst idea you have ever come up with yet. She shook her head vehemently. He must never know. I will not mar our friendship for so small a reason as my base needs.

Base needs, tôr neth? You could never feel anything base for those you love. Araduar pointed out.

You give me far more credit than I deserve. She replied.

Araduar shook hs head. Nay, I speak the truth.

evertheless, we will not mention this to him. She said matter-of-factly. Please, keep this a secret?...

Araduar frowned then reluctantly nodded. Tis against my better judgment but for now I will hold my tongue, he agreed. But please take care, Anoron. I do not want you to get hurt.

Re: The Bond
Legolas woke shortly after the sun rose. He felt so...numb. At a lost for what was happening around him. Getting out of the bed he freshened up and changed clothes. Sighing heavily as he thought about what has been happening the past MONTH he growled slightly and laid back on his bed, Legolas' back exposed to the celine. He didn't feel like putting on a fancy tunic, so he simply wore the thing white one with strings along the V shaped neckline.

With his head burried in the pillow, the elf grumbled and asked what he could do. He was not in a good relationsehip, but he wanted to give Athair everything to make her happy, and Anoron was drifting away. Why? He never understood, and he was a young elf....sometimes he wished that he was older and wiser than he already was.

Re: The Bond
As morning came, Anoron was sitting on one of the many balcony's with Elladan. They were seated in comfortable wicker chairs, staring at the golden trees, sparkled by sunlight. For some reason, both were quiet. Elladan kept looking to Anoron sadly, until finally, he spoke.

I know I am not him.... He said, referring to Legolas. But I could help you quench this thirst of love for you. For one night, or however many nights you wish.......we cannot stand to see you suffering, Anoron. He finished. Elladan's voice was full of concern.

Anoron looked to him sadly, and then took his hand in hers. Thank you....but you cannot help me, Elladan.

He forced a smile and nodded. He wanted to help her. He, Elrohir and Araduar wanted Anoron to pass this any way possible. Standing, the two walked back down the halls and pattered down the stairs holding hands. They began to walk down a few of the paths together.

Re: The Bond
Legolas stood once more, and put his cloak on. Perhaps the woods of Rivendell would ease his mind and soul, for both held a heavy burden. Pulling the hood up he walked out of the room he was staying in and down the reclusive paths that lead t one of the many woods of Imladris. Legolas held the cloak about him closely.

Hours passed and he did not return, he could he founf by one of the water falls, standing there stiffly, and looking at his reflection. "Though emptiness a heart travels, unsure of the roads that lead. Lost in the sprial ever spinning. And here I stand...in the doldrums of numbness..." He whispered, almost to himself.

Re: The Bond
Speaking of the keeper of hearts.... Elladan said, motioning for her to look ahead. There was Legolas, standing near the waterfalls. Anoron immediately stopped and stared at him. Come on, Anoron.....you can't act nervous. Act normal, unless you want him to find out.

She intook a few deep breaths, before nodding. Wanting to seem like all was well, both Anoron and Elladan ran up behind Legolas, hoisted him over their shoulders and tossed him into the small water body to which the falls powered. Laughing, both jumped in after, ensuring a water fight.

Re: The Bond
Legolas gasped as soon as he hit the water, adn his once dry cloak now a damp mess. His clothing clung to him as he surfaced to see WHO had thrown him into the water. And there was Elladan and Anoron. He narrowed his eyes slightly and the mischievious smile appeared on his ocne sorrowful face. "Elladan...you sly little..." ANd swimming over to him he grabbed him and pushed him underwater then lookign to Anoron.

"You were in cahoots as well eh tithen aenil?" He said sliding over to her. Grinning at her, he tickled her sides mercilessly. "Revenge is so sweet..." He teased at them both when Elladan surfaced.

Re: The Bond
Elladan laughed. Fear not, m'lady, I shall save you! He yelled, jumping over onto Legolas and pushing him under. Anoron laughed as they all splashed and wrestled; seemingly weightless.

Yet the sound of hoofbeats caught Anoron's attention. Looking up to the bridge, she saw an Elven maiden atop a horse -- staring at them rather sternly. She stopped playing in the water and simply stood looking at the girl. Elladan noticed her stop in movement, and looked to where her eyes were gazing.

Re: The Bond
Surfacing, he looked at the two oddly and followed their sight, then his face paled. Athair. She did not look to happy either, and by the looks of it she had a friend with her. Sighing, he turned to them. "Excuse me..." He said and his tone had changed from the merriment before, to morose and a bit of fear. Legoals got out of the water wetter than ever. He wrung out his cloak, which dried fast as he headed for thee girl, his girlfriend.

Upon seeing him in his state, wet and dripping her eyes narrowed. "WHERE were you?!" SHe barked out suddenly, causing Legolas to cringe slightly.

"I was in the falls with my friends...does thou think it ill of me to do so?" He asked hesitantly, as if she was his master.

"No, but you just took off on me like that in Mirkwood!" Ad she gave him a cold hard slap. "We shall take this elsewhere. Boy, take my horse as well as Hithiuel's." Ans she grabbed him by the wrist and drug him off into the woods, yelling at him and hitting or slapping him.

Legolas couldn't do anything but nod and coward. "Forgive me my love I am sorry..I would like you to meet some of my friends who I have not seen in some time..." Legolas asked cautiously. When she complied, he took her hand tentively and led her back to the falls. His cheek was marked with a hand that had slapped him across the cheek hard, nearly drawing blood."Anoron...Elladan..this is my lover, Athair...Athair...this is Elladan and Anoron.."

Re: The Bond
Anoron's mouth dropped slightly. His lover? Why did not he tell her? Elladan seemed just as surprised, but elves were masters at hiding their emotions. Pleasure. He said, bowing to her slightly. A nudge to Anoron snapped her out of her trance, and she too bowed slightly.

She'd seen this girl slap Legolas, and the mark on his cheek was obvious. Already, she did not like this girl -- no true love would actually cause physical harm to the other.

If you'll excuse me.... She said quietly, backing up and leaving the waterside. She ignored Elladan's calls to her. Anoron headed off down a few paths with a speedy walk -- as if trying to leave the pain of Legoas introducing his 'love' behind her.

Reaching her room, she lay down on her bed and cried.

Re: The Bond
Legolas watched her go sadly. Looking to Elladan, then to Athair who just shrugged and walked off to unpack, He looked down as if he had just been beaten bruetally. Legolas said his goodbyes to Elladan and walked off to his room, but he did not go to his room once entering the halls. He went to Anoron's and knocked on the door softly. "Anoron? Tithen Aenil? What is wrong? Forgive me for not telling you sooner, but I was clouded, and not thinking clearly. Please don't be cross with me..." Legolas couldn't bear to think that she was mad at him.

Re: The Bond
Anoron sat up when hearing the knock on her door and wiped her eyes quickly. Going over to the door, she opened it, and hid her heartbreak with a look of anger. Not only did you not tell me.....but you allow her to hit and humiliate you in public. Why? You are stronger than such. Stand up to her. I will be honest....I dislike her.

Re: The Bond
Legolas arched a brow at her. "Because she was right. I should have told her why I was going, instead of giving her a short answer and dashing off. You don't like her because you are jealous that I finally found someone to love...and someone who actually loves me back. Perhaps this time I won't crash like that arrow." He said hastily.

"She slapped me because she knew I was wrong and was trying to correct my errors. Why an you not see it? We spoke of what love mean...do you not see the love between Athair and I?" And his voice softened to a whisper, and his eyes began to well, but Legolas quickly masked them and pushed the tears down.

Anoron paused at that question. Do you not see the love I have for YOU?..... She thought. Slowly, she nodded.

I can see why you defend her. But you are wrong.....I am not jealous because you've found someone you love. I am happy.

She lowered her eyes gently, before brushing past him. Congratulations.... She mumbled. Anoron walked down the hall and disappeared from his sight. Legolas thought her just bitter; she wasn't. Just heartbroken.

For the rest of the afternoon, she spoke not to anyone really, save Araduar a few times. He worried greatly for her.

There he sat on the large landing stair which led outside. There was a gentle breeze blowing his dark hair back as he pondered what to do about Anoron.

Legolas the rest of the day had been a slave so to say for Athair. SHe had him wrapped around her little fingger. She shared his room, and her friend was beside Anoron's. When she was not around, Legolas took that moment to venture off away from her. He walked down teh stairs, and notinced Araduar sitting there. He sighed and trotted over to him, sitting down beside him.

"Something ails you my friend...would you not share them with me?""

Re: The Bond
He looked to him. Araduar swallowed hard. So, Legolas *had* noticed something off. He had not discerned the reason, caught up as he had been in the business of his 'love' with his girlfriend, but he had noticed. He wondered how much he could reveal without actually betraying his sister.

My sister has been behaving oddly...because of late she has been sorely burdened with a problem. I only worry for her well being. Araduar said carefully.

'Tis what I suspected, Legolas said. Can you not tell me what this problem is?

She has forbidden me to speak of it to anyone. Other than myself, only Elladan and Elrohir know.

And what has Lord Garin doen to help his daughter? Legolas asked.

Araduar shook his head. Adar wants to help but he is powerless to do so. Only one person can help Anoron and unfortunately she does not believe that person can-or will.

You talk like a wizard, Legolas complained. All allusions and no substance. Please speak plainly. What is this thing that burdens Anoron so?

Araduar hesitated. He was torn between keeping his sister's confidence and seeking a solution to his sister’s problem. His dilemma was not made any easier when the solution could very well be sitting right beside him. He looked up and sought Anoron.

His sister was sitting by herself beneath a birch tree sharpening her sword with all the appearance of industry. But her mind was obviously not on what she was doing. And so lost was she in thought that she had not taken care to guard her face. She was deeply unhappy and it smote Araduar's heart to see her that way.

She desires someone, but her desire is not returned, Araduar finally stated.

Legolas was surprised. How can this be? She has always been capable of capturing any ellon she desires.

’Tis not any of her past lovers who haunts her thoughts and bedevils her heart, Araduar said. She has come to yearn for a most unlikely person. Here he hesitated, uncertain whether to continue. But Legolas was looking at him intently, waiting for him to do so. He let his breath out. He had not been aware that he’d been holding it. Tis no normally ellon I speak of, Legolas.....'tis a close friend.....'tis you.
