Fëanor Curufinwë
-Screen Name -- Feanaro Curufinwe

-Name -- Fëanor, Finwëion (Son of Finwë), Curufinwë (Cunning Finwë), Fëanaro (Spirit of Fire -- his mother name in its Quenya form)

-Race -- Noldor

-Dwelling -- Tirion, Formenos

-Age -- 221 Valian Years (as of the date of this board)

-Description -- Unusually tall and strong, even for a Noldo, Fëanor has the raven-black hair and piercing grey eyes of his race. His features are unusually handsome, even by elven standards, but are marked by a certain angularity and sharpness, as if subtly hinting at the fire within. His grey eyes shine with a fire that none can ignore, and his movements, though strong, have a certain suddenness to them, a sort of abruptness that can surprise the unwary.

-Personality -- Fëanor has always had a certain impulsiveness to his character, although that was tempered for a while by his wife Nerdanel. Quick to anger, he is also slow to forget a grievance, which brought the Noldor to much suffering. He is ever the master of his own mind, taking no advice and heeding naught but his own opinions, allthough those could be perverted by a master liar, such as Melkor. His mind and hands are always restless, ever looking to examine and shape his world -- thus did he invent the Tengwar and create the Palantiri and the Silmarills.

-History -- YT 1179 -- Fëanor is born in Aman to Finwë, the High King of the Noldor, and Miriel the Broidress. Miriel, wearied by his birth, lays herself down in Lorien and her spirit passes to the Halls of Mandos. Finwë, greatly saddened by her loss, holds Fëanor close to his heart in memory of her, and Fëanor, in his turn, grows very devoted to his father. When the pain of his loss has eased, Finwë marries Indis of the Vanyar, much to young Fëanor's dislike. They go on to have four more children, most notably the two boys Fingolfin and Finarfin.

YT 1200ish -- While studying under the great elven smith Mahtan, Fëanor meets and falls in love with his daughter Nerdanel. They marry, and such was the fire of Fëanor's spirit and the strength of Nerdanel's body, that they go on to have an unprecedented seven sons: Maedhros, Maglor, Celegorm, Caranthir, Curufin, and the twins Amrod and Amras. The family lives in a state of bliss, growing and learning from one another in the noontide of Valinor. While Fëanor studies the crafting of jewels and metals, Nerdanel prefers to work in the more transitory medium of wood, creating sculptures that appear so lifelike that they fool even close friends of the person portrayed.

YT1400 -- Melkor is unchained; initially feigning to be good, he starts spreading lies and inciting discontent among the Noldor, particularly Fëanor, whom he hates above all the Eldar. Although Fëanor never took Melkor's counsel, despising him above all others, his lies slowly seeped into Fëanor's unconscious and he took them as his own. Fueled by these lies, Fëanor becomes increasingly restless.

YT 1450 -- As if sensing some impending doom, Fëanor creates the Silmarills, capturing in them the light of the Two Trees unspoiled; in his growing pride, nurtured by the whispered lies that Melkor has been spreading, he quarrels with his half-brother Fingolfin over who holds primacy in Finwë's heart. Melkor teaches the Noldor about the crafting of swords and weapons of warfare -- in secret, Fëanor builds a mighty smithy and crafts his own armoury of weapons, of a quality that has never been seen, either before or since.

YT 1490 -- Fëanor is banished from Tirion for twelve years after drawing his sword on his half-brother Fingolfin in a jealous rage. Fëanor and Nerdanel grow increasingly estranged, as her gentle wisdom no longer is enough to restrain his growing pride. He takes his sons and builds the stronghold of Formenos in the north of Aman. He now keeps the Simlarills safely locked away in a chamber of iron, allowing only his sons and his father to view them. Nerdanel stays with Indis while Finwë, who holds himself unkinged while his eldest is banished, goes north to live with his son.

YT 1495 -- Morgoth, with the aid of Ungoliant kill the Two Trees, and head north to Formenos, stealing the Silmarills and slaying Finwë. Fëanor, who was called unwillingly to a feast at Tanequetal, is asked to give up the Silmarills so that the Trees might be restored. He does not answer, but upon hearing of the tragedy at Formenos, he rushes back to Tirion in despair.

YT 1495-1500 -- Fëanor incites the Noldor in Tirion to pursue Morgoth to Middle-earth both to avenge King Finwë and to recover the Silmarils. Fëanor and his sons all swear the Oath "that none should take" to kill anyone who keeps a Silmaril from them. He disregards a warning from Manwë not to leave Valinor. He leads the Kinslaying of the Teleri at Alqualonde. Mandos curses Fëanor and all the Noldor who follow him. Fëanor steals the Teleri ships to transport to Middle-earth those Noldor most loyal to him; lands at the Firth of Drengist, burns the ships, abandoning Fingolfin and the main Noldor host in Araman; encamps with his followers on the shore of Lake Mithrim. He repulses and shatters an Orc army secretly sent by Morgoth. Pursuing its remnants to Ard-galen, Fëanor is slain by Balrogs. As his body is being carried away by his sons, just before he dies, he thrice curses Melkor, calling him Morgoth, the Dark Foe. On his passing, his body instantly crumbles to dust and his spirit flees to the Halls of Mandos, there to await the unmaking of the world.

-Sample RP Post -- Bang! The hammerblow that was meant for the blade that Fëanor was forging fell square on his thumb and he yelped with pain. Both Mahtan and Nerdanel gave him a strange look; he was being unusually clumsy today. He smiled and shook off the pain. "It was nothing -- I minor slip, that's all," he said. But he had been making many such "minor slips" this day, and all the fingers of his left hand were battered and bruised. He turned his attention back to the blade, but his mind kept wandering to the copper-haired elf maiden near him. She wasn't the prettiest elf in Aman, not by a long shot, but she still had the fairness of elven-kind, although her complexion tended towards a certain ruddiness that was only accuentated by the heat of the forge. Another missed blow glanced off the anvil and tossed Fëanor off balance.

Noticing his young apprentice's discomfort, Mahtan spoke, telling the pair to go off and relax somewhere away from the forge. "There will be time enough for lessons," he said, eying his young charge appraisingly. As the two wandered off, he smiled to himself. The time comes soon for young Curufinwë to take a wife he thought to himself, and his choice appears clear. He turned back to the forge, finishing the blade that Fëanor had been having so much trouble with.

It was the time of the mingling of the lights of the Two Trees, and the young couple wandered aimlessly amongst the beeches. Suddenly, Fëanor stopped and took Nerdanel's hands in his. "There's something I want to tell you," he said, gazing in awe at the way her coppery hair shone in the mingled gold and silver. She looked up at him and smiled. "I think I already know what it is."

He pulled her into a close embrace, their lips almost brushing. "I love you, Nerdanel, and I want you to be my wife."

Tears filled the elf-maid's eyes at his words. "And I love you too, Fëanaro, Spirit of Fire. And I would gladly be your wife." She gently brushed his lips with the tip of her finger. "For now I know the secret that kept you from concentrating at the forge," she smiled.

Fëanor moved in, and their lips brushed together in a gentle kiss. "Let it be our secret," he said, "the others will know soon enough." They embraced again and wandered off amongst the beeches.
