if i wanna put a hemi in???
alright, i got a great lead on a 69 hemi motor. my car is a 383, will i need to find a new k-member to put this in???? will i have to ditch my power brakes and power steering??? and, i'm sure a/c is out of the question right???? are the tranny bolt patterns the same???? it's a basically ready to drop in, complete from carb to converter!!!!! somebody tell me this won't be too hard!!!!!!!!!!!!
Since the motor mounts for an original Hemi are different than that B/RB Motors, you have 2 options. The hardest way would be to change your K-member to a Hemi K-Member and then try and find Hemi Motor Mounts (Unless the motor comes with them). The other (my choice) option is to contact Schumacher and get their Hemi Conversion Kit which allows you to bolt a Hemi into your B/RB K-Member.
I'm not sure about the tranny bolt pattern, but I can't see why it would be different. I don't see solving the other problems as being that difficult. Manual brakes and steering aren't that bad, you just have to plan them right. However, I wouldn't just assume that you can't keep the power stuff or the A/C for that matter.
hemi
You can also use "elephant ears" which mount between the water pump and engine, but you'll have to use a spacer for the crank pulley. The tranny from the 383 will fit the Hemi.
Re: hemi
Should be a straight forward swap in an early RR. I like the sch. mounts, the rest will fall in. Keep us posted.

Re: if i wanna put a hemi in???
thanks guys!!!! i'm going to check the motor out tonight. right now the motor is setup for mostly strip duty but the guy built it with 10:1 compression so it "can" be streetable. i figure a street hydraulic cam and a smaller carb and i'll be ready to go. anybody got a dana ????
here's a little bit of the info:
Basics: 4.15 MP crank, +.060 over, 10.8:1 pistons, MP .572/296 solid cam, iron street hemi heads, race hemi rods, stock rockers, Indy 1050 single plane manifold, Holley 1050 Dominator 1:1 linkage. Offer includes Hooker Super Comp Headers, a spare intake manifold (mopar M1), and your choice of 3000 or 3500 stall converter. Also includes distributor, wires, plugs, water pump housing, basically I'm yanking it out of the car and handing it over to the buyer complete minus the pulleys.
