info every responsible monk should know
sup peeps
i was thinking lets start a thread detailing tips and tricks that some of us more schooled monks use in day to day pulling/life be it in a dungeon or a full scale raid. for example what im talking about are things such as turning off auto attack before feigning so your own attacks dont interrupt your feign attempt, or -flopping- [standing up and re-feigning as soon as the button pops to help erase agro on troublesome pats], or how autopulling or sneak pulling is done. to an accomplished monk these skills are usually second nature and we would like to assume others of our level would also possess this aquired knowledge however oftentimes we are wrong. some will probably say that this information is best learned on your own, to that i reply if a monk is here reading this they have already shown a desire to improve and do their job the best that they can. also we are simply describing the maneuvers or tricks which they themselves must develop into usefull methods through their own trial and error. thanks, and i hope to see a lot of contributions to this thread. lets keep it going and see if we can better ourselves by working together.

Learn how to pull with aggro range. stay as far away as you can from the mob/mobs and inch forward till you can either get just 1 to aggro, or throw something at them. also, casters tend to nuke you right away... FD after the spell lands, and the non caster mobs should be by you and the caster still at its spawn point --- makes splitting much easier.

Re: info every responsible monk should know
pulling 1: on many pulls, it is nice to have a rogue go invis in a place where they can watch spawn points along your pull route, to give a warning that you need to abort your pull if needed.

pulling 2: on shorter pulls, make sure your group understands that if they don't stay way the hell back they will train themselves and die.

pulling 3: be polite if possible. /shout to the zone that you are pulling and that they should steer clear of your route.

FD: always, always, always remember to turn autoattack off before you hit the FD key.

communication 1: talk to your group. If you establish a reputation for keeping your group well informed you will find yourself being bumped up to the top of waiting lists.

communication 2: be nice, especially when you don't want to be nice. Someone in your group wander off and aggro half the zone on your party? Although it is easy (and fun) to tear them a new asshole, save yourself, and your group, if possible, and try gently to educate them. After all, you can kick them out of your group, but you can't kick them out of the zone, and the more they know, the less likely they will be to cause problems for everyone there.

twinking: why the hell are you twinking a monk? it just means that your tank will have a hard time doing his job, so put the twink weapons away, and keep things simple for your healers too. Unless you are going solo, that is...

macros: I'll make a tutorial site for useful socials and EQ (almost)macros. Someone bug me about this in a few days if I haven't posted a URL by then.

Doh! I didn't actually forget, but I've been playing my enchanter for the last week or so and haven't gotten around to it yet. Nevermind that it's been two and a half weeks since I first said I'd write something up...

I'll do it RSN

Here it is:

I'm going to be testing out some ideas I've had to making the monk/enchanter combo in your group the greatest thing ever. Hopefully I'll try it out and write it up soon.

Wyer,
I've been grouping with a chanter lately.. I'm interested in hearing your CHANTER+MONK combo.

I feel like a medic/cleric applying 200+ bind wounds to a chanter. Heh.

Doh. It's been over a month, hasn't it?

Gojirra (my monk on EM) has one and a half yellows until level 40, so, I'm going to log in right now and when I get to 40, I'll finish writing it up and post a link here.

Re: info every responsible monk should know
Hello. I made my first monk and he is now level 24. I have found all of your information very informative and useful, however I have a question concerning sneak pulling :) If I understand the concept correctly, you can sneak by mob to get the aggro on a desired mob, however, once you attack the desired mob, won't you aggro the mobs you just snuck by? Maybe someone could shed some light on the usefulness of this skill :)

Thanks

p.s. I really found the macro guide useful. Could someone tell me the command line for a delay? probably mostly used for casters...
