reform?
To inject new life into Trián, it might be interesting to go through a massive cultural reform which will influence politics and possibly economy as well.
I think it'd be a good idea to make our nation more themed. First i have to find out who the first traders where, because apparently i don't know that and i can't find it with 5 minutes of google searching either.
We would reform Trián to be more like that nation, ie inherit its culture, government structure (maybe a bit more democratic if necessary), perhaps change our name/board layout even.
And if it doesn't work afterwards, then the reform itself has at least brought some activity. What do you say? We've got nothing to lose.
i suppose Phoenicia would be a good idea. They werent the first perhaps, but they were the most important civilisation on the area of economics for quite some time. If we don't go with that, i'd go with the Minoans.

Re: reform?
What about doing Ancient India? This would defenitely be more original and they traded quite a bit too. A middle eastern theme is a bit too much explored;
concerning GOVERNMENT;
the government should be phoenician-styled. Ancient phoenicia has known both kingdom and republic, it'd be a good idea in my opinion to combine both.
There would be a king, but instead of waiting for him to die we could elect him, which would be lots more democratic and i think this reform shouldn't go at cost of democracy.
the council of elders = the cabinet, would exist of what we call Secretaries atm, but they'd need a fancier name of course. Elected or appointed, we'll see.
About legislation,im not sure. ive thought about having cities that you could go live in as a citizen (like Treesia has its palatinates). Each city would elect a suffete (some fancy name for a guy that rules the city) and all of them suffetes would legislate. But maybe we should stick with direct democracy, i don't know.
concerning LAYOUT;
the dominant colour (layout and flag) would propably be purple, as the phoenicians where often called "the purple people". This may not sound very appealing, but i'll try to keep it mellow, and i think ill manage.
concerning CULTURE in general;
Culture, language,... would of course be phoenician based. it'd be cool if we could all get phoenician names, and give everything a phoenician name (fora and such). Helps to add to the atmosphere.

Re: reform?
Like everything else Johanns
I don't know about this... Besides a KING? Bah. We might as well model ourselves around another trading group thats cooler(literally, its so hot in europe these days you don't wanna talk about middle heat).
Re: reform?
I been talking to Johanns about this and it might be interesting to mix some other stuff in it. He was thinking about egyptian,we could even put some greek in it... It would be like trián was intended to be, = a mixture of cultures, but a bit more specific.
Re: reform?
Im all for a reform... am happy to get involved.
Perhaps you could have the smaller areas and people develop them with a culture... so we are a nation made up with all these seperate cultures and the rulers or whatever you called them.
I am opposed to a direct democracy... im not aganist it but it takes away the realism and takes a lot more work. (It also breaks down the class barrier :P)

Re: reform?
another idea could be to perhaps use the mcs map and get an area of land... then having people go around settling 'trading ports'around the map like the dutch or british... and then creating a unique culture for these places... as the "explore" them... like the founding of Australia, Dutch East Indies or Sth Africa. Wuld spread out culture development over time and fgive different "regions" an identity. They are still then all under Trian control... but should they grow big they mayt be able to become self dependant.. even succeed.

Re: reform?
Federalization won't work on small micronations. We have to have an activity proof thing. Whats wrong with Trian now? I think we should concentrate on improving what we got and not revolutionising.
